Oreo πβ€οΈπΎ
Oreo may be a little dog, but he has a BIG personality! π€© From the moment he strutted into PippinsPawtique, he filled the room with excitement and charm. π Small but mighty, this handsome boy loved every minute of his pamper sessionβand I loved every minute of having him here! Such a sweet little character. β€οΈβ¨
Oreo had a full groom, which for double coated breeds consists of a full scissor trim. This includes a paw tidy, to neaten those hairy feet up! A trim of any leg feathers/furnishings, skirt, chest and bum. Trimming of the tail & ears if needed. The full groom also includes an ear clean, and a nail clip.

π₯³ Fun fact π
It is extremely important not to clip a double-coated breed unless there is a genuine medical reason and it has been advised by a veterinarian. Because of this, many professional groomers will only perform a full clip on a double-coated dog if a veterinary note is provided β
Clipping a double coat can lead to a number of long-term issues, including:
β’ Coat funk β the coat may grow back unevenly, patchy, dull, or with a different texture. Often the undercoat grows back much faster than the top coat, resulting in a fluffy, woolly appearance.
β’ Temperature regulation issues β a double coat helps insulate dogs from both heat and cold. Removing it can make it harder for them to regulate their body temperature effectively.
β’ Increased risk of sunburn β the outer coat provides protection from harmful UV rays. Clipping can leave the skin exposed and vulnerable to sun damage.
β’ Loss of natural protection β the coat acts as a barrier against dirt, moisture, insects, and environmental irritants. A clipped coat provides less protection from these elements.
β’ Permanent coat damage β in some dogs, the coat may never fully return to its original condition, even after months or years of regrowth.
β’ Matting and tangling during regrowth β as the undercoat grows back faster than the top coat, the coat can become prone to matting and trapping moisture close to the skin.
β’ Skin irritation and hotspots β clipped coats can expose sensitive skin, increasing the likelihood of irritation, dryness, or hotspots in some dogs.
For most double-coated breeds, regular brushing, de-shedding treatments, and proper coat maintenance are the safest and most effective ways to manage shedding and keep them comfortable πβ¨
