Today is National Puppy Day. Mine would say every day should be a day for celebration.

Here they are from being a pup to today. Mason had an autoimmune disease at the age of 8 weeks, it has a medical name but it is commonly known as puppy strangles.

Having seen this post from SYESSR, we wanted to help out with their vet bill for poor Scooby. Thanks to the continuing support of our customers with buying our products we are able to donate £1000 to SYESSR. Hopefully Scooby makes a quick and speedy recovery and that karma deals with horrible person who did this. One of our lovely Foster dogs Scooby was viciously kicked on Saturday morning after a driver was told he should slow down after almost running over his owner and his other dogs because he was speeding on a narrow country road. Instead of having a word with the owner he kicked poor Scooby, rupturing his spleen meaning he needed emergency surgery and is now critical but stable at the vets.

Unfortunately the driver quickly got back in his car and sped off and as Scoobys owner was more worried about Scooby and his other dogs he didn't manage to get any registration details so the police can't do anything.

Obviously incidents like this always happen on a bank holiday weekend when out of hours charges are incurred and this is going to be very expensive. It depends on how long he has to stay in and whether further surgery or treatment is needed but their current estimate us £2000 - £2,500 :(

Generation Pup reached the milestone 5000 puppies in their study and to mark the occasion Hercule von Wolfwinkle has created his special artwork. If you have a puppy under 16 weeks and live in the UK or Republic of Ireland then please join up. If you haven't heard of Pet Portraits by Hercule then go check him out and the amazing work he is doing to support the homeless charity Turning Tides. His portraits are hilarious.

New commission finished!!!

It was an honour and a privilege to be contacted by Dogs Trust who commissioned this portrait to mark an important milestone in their ‘Generation Pup’ project.

‘What’s that then?’ I hear you ask. Well, Generation Pup is an amazing and groundbreaking study that uses survey data provided by owners to investigate the influence of various factors on the development of health and behaviour conditions to help improve dog welfare in future.

Their target is to have 10,000 puppies enrolled and this little scamp is the 5,000th pup to join the project!!

He belongs to the wonderful Ruth. I don’t know what he’s called, but I’ve named him Keith Ledger.

Keith likes investigating flowerpots, volunteering at the nudist beach and the surprise of an unexpected blow-off.

I had to draw this one in my ultra-realistic style, so usual reminder that my picture is the image on the right.

Last weekend Mason and I attended a canicross taster session with Laura Robinson at Actidog. Having not done any running in probably 35 years, it was an amazing session. Mason was brilliant, if sometimes a little distracted by the scent of squirrels, but it was great to see him fully recovered from his operation a year ago and now capable of participating in this dog sport. Today our brand new equipment arrived and can't wait to get started!
