Dog Friendly Training Dog Friendly is run by Dave and Jenny Olley. We have been training in and around the York and Selby Our classes and courses are only suitable for sociable dogs.

We have been training in and around the York and Selby area, since setting up dog friendly in 1999. Training available - puppy and foundation classes for adolescent and adult dogs, who can then continue their training in either our activity or working trials classes. Courses from half day to weeks courses covering working trials, play, gundog activities, tracking and assorted dog activities. One t

o ones, if times of classes don’t suit or if you’d like to work on something specific. We believe dog training can and must be fun for learning to take place. Training in the outdoors in our beautiful 10 acre training ground, located between York and Selby, means you are working in a realistic environment, which will enhance and proof your dog’s training. A natural environment for your dog, so they feel at ease, which aids learning. We are experienced in both pet training and high level competition. At dog friendly we use positive methods, food and play, we have developed our methods over a life time of dog training, by observing dogs. We work with dogs evaluating their emotions to enhance their learning experience. Our training improves relationship and builds motivation, leading to a responsive dog who wants to be with you. We are both experienced working trials, competitors, trainers and kennel club judges. Dave won both the TD and the PD tickets at the working trials kennel club championships with his dog WT CH Little Raymond, Ray and WT CH Stardell Alula qualified many times to go to the championship, they also qualified TDex & PDex many times. Jenny has trained qualified 2 dogs to Tdex level also working PD championship with one. During our years of owning, training, working and competing with dogs we have entered working trials, competitive obedience, agility, flyball and scurries.

These sessions are perfect for sociable dogs of any breed who love having fun, learning new skills, and engaging their natural instincts through games and play.
Your dog will enjoy:
Searching
finding
Retrieving
Fun, confidence‑building jumps
A sprinkle of control work woven into the games
All delivered in a positive way that gives pet dogs a brilliant outlet for their drives
Dogs don’t need previous experience, but they do need to be able to be walked on a lead, be sociable around dogs and people off lead.

Time of session – 9.30am to 11.30am
Cost per monthly session £25.00, payable by bank transfer at time of booking.
Please don’t bring dogs who have a contagious illness, are in season, or show aggression to other dogs or people.
Dogs attending must be wearing a flat buckle collar, no checks, half checks or slip leads, head collars are fine to use, you may also need a harness for some drive work.

Held monthly on Saturday, 9.30am start, 3pm finish
Suitable from pup to adult dog, companion to competition dogs.
As with all courses at dog friendly training, dogs who attend must be sociable on and off lead and able to spend time in your vehicle when not working.
Outdoor venue near Bubwith, between York and Selby
Cost per day £55.00, payable by bank transfer at time of booking.

From late spring we will be scheduling Sunday morning monthly, starter sessions.

We'll build on the fun and motivation of the retrieve through gundog style games.

Dogs need to be sociable on and off lead, long lines can be used, dogs don't need to be traditional gundog breeds.

Outdoor venue, between York and Selby. Message me to register your interest, i'll get details to you once they are finalised.

Monthly Sunday mornings, 9.30am to 11.30am, next one 13th July, cost per session £25.00.
Dogs need to be sociable in a group, on and off lead, but they can be worked on a line.

Adventure Dog
A morning of activities and training for you and your dog, at our outdoor venue near Selby, Yorkshire.
Building skills, progressing training, building relationship and bond, in a positive way.
Fun jumping and obstacles, learning to follow a track, searching and retrieving or indicating lost items, motivational control, playing with toys. Plus lots more.
Next session Sunday 18th May, 2025
9.30am to 11.30am, £25.00, per owner and dog, per 2 hour session, prebooking and payment required to secure place. These sessions are monthly and run all year round.
Dogs need to be sociable on and off lead when in a group environment with other dogs and people. Dogs need to be over 6 months.
