Loughborough & District Canine Society Open Show (18/05/25)

Judge - Chloe Clarke (part gundogs & junior handling)

Thank you to the committee at Loughborough Society for inviting me to judge at their show and for a lovely day. Would like to say thank you to my brilliant stewards who made the day smooth sailing and just lovely.

Bracco Italiano:

Puppy (2,0)

1st Callaiscroft Esprit De Vie For Amicofedele NAF. BPIB.

10 month old dog that really looked a picture stacked, very mature for age and presents an almost square appearance. Correct divergent planes and holds depth to muzzle. Strong neck leading into correct topline and good depth to chest, muscular lion and a cracking tailset. Moved out exceptionally well with a lengthy stride and lots of power.

2nd Tito Saggio At Kingsoak Ex Libris (IMP NLD)

7 month old dog that is a little more rangier than 1st. Correct chiselling at the zygomatic arches and divergent planes, well rounded neck and broadness to chest. Touch too long in coupling for me but displays good rear angulation assembly. Moved out well.

Open (1,0)

1st Bushwacker Demetrio. BOB.

I liked this dog very much, he displays an almost square appearance throughout which gives him such an impressive outline. He has a quality head that is lean and proportionate, narrow at the zygomatic arches and holds the correct divergent planes. Cracking depth in body with the correct topline and well sprung ribs. Well off for bone and angled nicely throughout with super lay of shoulder, correct arched feet. Such a striking mover that couldn’t be faulted, showing a breed typical extended fast trot. No denying this boy BOB, well done.

English Setter:

Puppy (2,0)

1st Tawnymeade Moonflower. BPIB.

7 month old bitch which was presented nicely in good coat for age and displayed nice angulation in fore and aft. Very pretty head that holds femininity with correct dark eye, good reach of neck and correct topline. A touch short on leg but she has time, preferred her hindquarters to litter brother, nicely bent stifle and short pasterns. Moved steady and true.

2nd Tawnymeade Moonshine

Litter brother to 1st who displays good dark eye and a pronounced occiput leading into good reach of neck and strong topline, would prefer a better croup. Straight forelegs and depth to chest coming nicely, was a little untidy on the move but showed correct head carriage.

Junior (1,0)

1st Bournehouse Augustus at Yessandi

Liked this boys head, handsome in looks and good depth to muzzle leading into good reach of neck and correct width between withers. Front well made with straight forelegs and good spring of rib. In hard condition throughout, moved out with drive with correct tail carriage. Considered for BOB today.

Open (2,0)

1st Wansleydale Mayfly with Canteris. BOB.

Lovely in profile showing good angulation throughout and plenty of coat. She carries a feminine head with correct dark eye and low set ears. Good reach of neck, short back and strong topline with correct croup. Good spring of rib, hindquarters well made with hard muscle and pleasing bend of stifle. Clear winner for movement, plenty of drive and correct tail carriage slashing as she went.

2nd Bumblecorn Ash of Tattay

7 yr old dog in lovely coat and muscle condition. He displays a soft expression and dark eye, good spring of rib and depth to chest. Correct short back and shows good angles in hindquarters. Unfortunately today his head carriage on the move let him down.

GSP:

Puppy (3,1)

1st Winterwell The Card Player. BOB & BPIB.

Really took my eye, 8 months old and just so impressive stacked. His head is clean cut, showing plenty of balance with lovely raised brows. Good depth to chest and well laid shoulders, short back and angulated nicely fore and aft. Muscular loin and ribs well sprung with compact feet and well off for bone. So much to like, his movement is effortless & light. Shined in the challenge for BOB, well done.

2nd Humjoli Persia’s Prince

9 month old dog with a soft expression and clean cut head, in appearance he is less compact than my winner. He has a deep chest and straight forelegs with good bend of stifle, on the move he was a little untidy today.

Open (5,3)

1st Sperant Chocolate Cosmos JW

A very feminine bitch that displays a soft expression and correct ear set. She stands over plenty of ground with good reach of neck and straight forelegs. Found her long in profile but displays correct tailset and strides out nicely. Was clear winner for movement today.

2nd Zakova Aurora

A real shame that she wouldn’t settle on the move for her handler today as this girl is pleasing in profile and construction. She is a more substantial bitch yet feminine with a pleasing head leading into a clean front and deep brisket, short back, correct tuck up and good spring of rib. Her muscle condition was super, but today wouldn’t settle on the move.

Irish Setter:

Puppy (1,0)

1st Riverwood X Written in the Stars. BPIB.

6 month old bitch that displays balance and nice angles throughout. Very pretty head with dark eye, raised brows and a defined occiput which leads into good reach of neck and a gently sloping topline and pleasing tailset. Correct lay of shoulder and straight forelegs with hindquarters showing correct proportions in length from hip to hock. Was a little unsettled on the move today but shows that typical tail action.

Junior (1,1)

1st Clonageera Summer Dreams at Millpoint

14 month old bitch that is racy in profile showing plenty of coat for age. Feminine in head with dark unshelled almond eyes, not overdone in muzzle and low set ears. Good reach of neck and plenty of forechest. She displays a well bent stifle and good croup. Moved okay once settled with good tail action.

PG (4,0)

1st Swiftlark Invincible JW

A larger framed dog with lots of balance and quality, I would prefer a more softer head but has good pigmentation of nose and dark eyes. Good reach of neck with a strong topline and pleasing croup. Plenty of depth to chest and straight forelegs, good width to thigh and nice bend of stifle. Presented in lovely dark coat. Moved so sound around the ring, using correct rear drive and tail carriage.

2nd Clonageera Summer Dreams at Millpoint

Open (1,0)

1st Swiftlark Illustrious JW. BOB.

Took my eye immediately with her racy yet balanced picture, lots to like here. She shows elegance and femininity in her head, I would like more of an unshelled almond eye but she has good dark eye. Good reach of neck leading into lots of depth of chest and straight forelegs. Strong topline and good angles In hindquarters, presented nicely in good coat and colour. Lots to admire on the move, she is clean and effortless with plenty of tail action, these two really work as a team. BOB.

Pointer:

Puppy (4,0)

1st lundgarth Ticket To Fly. BPIB.

6 month old black & white bitch that displays lots of graceful curves in outline and qualities. Very typical head with a pronounced occiput and slight dishfaced appearance. She is not exaggerated in the slightest and shows good length in neck and brisket reaching elbow. Strong topline and well set on tail with good angles behind. She moves with drive and a lashing tail.

2nd Sonham Just a Pretty Belle (AI)

A rangier girl than my winner in liver & white who is a different style yet feminine and aristocratic. Pretty head with dark eye and a defined occiput, constructed well throughout with straight forelegs. Preferred winners overall picture and deeper brisket, moves with drive.

Junior (3,1)

1st lundgarth Ticket To Fly. BPIB.

2nd Lundgarth Fly The Flag

Orange & white litter brother to winner who also shows lots of qualities and good shape. He owns such a handsome head with that slight dishfaced appearance and low set ears. His neck flowed into his brilliant topline, good depth to chest and straight forelegs. His quarters carry good angles with good first and second thigh. Moved better in this class than puppy which he did so with drive and clean action. I think these pups have a promising future ahead, good luck.

Open (3,2)

1st Caithpoint Kora at Meadowpoint. BOB.

Black & white girl with a very pretty head and slight dishfaced appearance, her muzzle concaves gently with soft lip. She shows a soft expression and good length in neck which flows into her topline, plenty of depth in chest and ribs well sprung carrying well back. I would like more curves in her quarters. She was such a sound mover, lashing her tail as she went covering plenty of ground.

2nd Codnorhawk Dinky Stta At Bradgate

Another black & white bitch who is finer in looks, she has a soft expression and low set ears and good reach of neck. Good spring of rib and straight forelegs, good width to first and second thigh. Moved well around the ring.

Cocker Spaniel:

Puppy (5,0)

1st Wyncastle’s Saint Laurent Avec Chamford (IMP HUN). BPIB.

Liked this boy very much, he shows that typical cobby presence and is in top quality coat for his age at 9 months. The most melting expression with low set ears and a cleanly chiselled head. Brilliant fore and aft angulation with nicely placed shoulders and good spring of rib. His hindquarters are well rounded and of good substance. He displays a wonderful temperament and shows such merry action on the move, a stand out winner for me.

2nd Aylesmead Blu Rose At Colmandakev

A different style to my winner, this 7 month old bitch is feminine throughout and compact. Just so soft and elegant in head with low set ears, excellent ribbing and angulations in fore and aft. Good bend of stifle and width in quarters. A tidy mover but not as merry as winner.

Junior (3,0)

1st Purdyspride Rave On

Lovely outline on this boy, at 17 months of age he has a handsome head with a square muzzle and dark eye. Good length in neck with good depth to chest and spring of rib. Level topline and correct croup, hindquarters are wide and developed. In lush coat, merry on the move. Considered for BOB.

2nd Wissant About Flippin Time

14 month old dog, another with plenty of coat. He is developed in skull and owns a square muzzle with low set ears. For me I’d like more length in neck but shows good depth in brisket, short coupled and correct croup. He moved out well.

Open (5,2)

1st Carmelfair Corocenzo at Oxfordogs. BOB.

Displays the cobby like appearance throughout while showing balance. In gorgeous condition, hands on he doesn’t disappoint. Good length to neck that flowed into his level topline and correct croup. Super spring of rib and chest is deep, he is short coupled, quarters are wide and stifle bent nicely. Moved true and merry with cracking tail action.

2nd Chativorce Sea Pebble at Colmandakev

A rather pretty bitch that is also excellently constructed. Very typical head with low set ears and dark eye, neck leading into clean level topline. Brisket reaches elbow and she has good spring of rib. Would like a tad more width to her quarters, moved with drive around the ring with correct tail action.

Junior Handling:

6-11 (1,1)

1st Isabelle Allsopp (age 7)

A very positive young handler yet very aware of judge at all times, today handling a sheltie. She shadows well and has attention to detail such as correcting foot when her dog was stacked. She used all of the ring to get the best out of her dog while making sure her patterns were clean and precise. Remember when coming up and down to not block dog from judge when turning. Overall a very smart handler who had a lovely report with her dog, very well done.

12-16 (2,0)

1st Georgia Moore (age 15)

Handling a rough collie, this handler was incredibly talented and attentive to her dog. Her shadowing was on point at all times and communicated well with her dog. Showed teeth correctly and corrected misplaced foot. On the move she performed the patterns cleanly and finished them properly before free standing for me and also moved at the correct pace for her dog. These two shared a very lovely bond which shined through in their class. Huge well done.

2nd Lucas Northey (age 14)

Handling a young Bracco who was rather naughty for his handler today, but despite this he was calm and collected throughout the class. When asked to move he was able to settle his dog to perform patterns, moving him at the correct pace. Make sure to practise your patterns and to stand your dog for the judge after. I’m sure with more practise, you both will become a brilliant team. Well done.
