🐔 Red Mites Love Warm Weather – Is Your Flock Protected? ☀️
As temperatures rise, red mites become much more active, making spring and summer the peak time for infestations. These tiny pests hide in cracks and crevices during the day and come out at night to feed on your hens.

Signs of red mites can include:
🔴 Pale combs and wattles
🔴 Reluctance to go into the coop at night
🔴 Reduced egg laying
🔴 Restlessness and irritation
🔴 Tiny grey or red mites around perches and nest boxes

Exzolt® (fluralaner) is a veterinary treatment that targets red mites through your chickens' drinking water, helping to protect your flock and improve their comfort and wellbeing.

If you suspect red mites, speak to your vet about the best treatment options and remember to regularly inspect and clean your coop.

⚠️ First BTV-3 Dummy Calf Confirmed in West Wales

The first case of BTV3 in West Wales has been reported in a dummy calf in Ceredigion.

The case was detected on post mortem of the calf and transplacental transmission most likely occurred during late autumn 2025, when the cow was early pregnant and bitten by infected midges.

Bluetongue has been identified as one of the factors causing fertility issues across suckler herds, from dummy calves and abortions through to poor scanning results.
