πŸ’‘ I have decided, from now on, I will only post pictures and stories of unusual cats 😺 or grooms or ones I feel need to be posted such as these two sweet boys, Frank and Arthur.

Please check your kitties tummies especially in the warmer months. As we know cats are not massive fans of having their tummies groomed but today I have seen some of the worst tight mats on tummies I have ever seen that took ages and a lot of time and skill to get off.

Thankfully these two lovelies πŸ₯° were gorgeous and were quite happy to let me get them off for them but this is not always the case. Mats pull on the skin and become painful, restrict movement and hide and also cause skin issues.

If your cat is prone to a matted tummy then book them in for a regular tummy trim. Prevention is always better than treatment. πŸ˜‰

Gorgeous nervous boy Theo, the Persian chinchilla had some de-matting work done recently.

His mum usually manages his thick coat herself but this year his mats had gotten too big and too many for her to deal with and he had got to the point where he wouldn't let her touch some of them so she called me in.

At first glance I thought a lion cut would be needed but thankfully I was able to spot shave them out. The worst ones were around his back hips and bottom area.

Theo did really well. Now his mum can get back to giving him a good brush now that those nasty mats are all gone.

Doesn't he look like butter wouldn't melt 🫠.

Gorgeous, playful boy Simba, the half Maine c**n, had a wet groom πŸ› 🐈 this afternoon. He did marvellously well πŸ™πŸ™ŒπŸ˜Ίand actually preferred the drying box to the handheld drier.

Here he is all wet, and then nearly dry just chilling out inside the box. Once he was done he continued to roll around and play and eat my hand. πŸ₯°

The drying box isn’t for all cats, I find most prefer the handheld dryer but in this case it was the other way round.

His sister however, didn’t do so well πŸ™ˆ so no wet groom for her today, but that’s okay, it’s not for everyone!

Ernie the rescue cat had his 3rd groom today.

He has started to let his mum brush him lots now so his grandma thought we wouldn't get much floof out of him today. Soo....I thought I'd prove her wrong 😁. All dead undercoat mixed with a couple of tangles from his tummy as well as a little from his nether regions 🀭 from his sanitary trim.

He has such a sad face but he is a super sweet softie. See you again sweet boy. πŸ₯°

It's getting hot again tomorrow πŸ₯΅ 😫 so I've squeezed as many grooms in today as I could before I can only doing mornings again.

In picture order.
Bust (ginger boy) had his usual plushy cut this morning, followed by Magnus (the big grey Maine c**n) had a full groom including his tummy and bottom trimmed right down then new boy Maverick, (the small black and grey Maine c**n) had a lion cut so he's summer ready. 🌞 😺

It's been a super busy week thanks to last week's weather, which looks like it's on its way again next week πŸ™ˆ.

Just a few of the lovely kitties 😻 I've had the pleasure of grooming this week.

Lion cuts for Misty, Boots and Sheba.
Sheba gets intestinal blockages so has to have a regular lion cut for his health, Boots was a farm cat turned house cat whose coat had too many naughty mats and Misty had the turtle shell going on so it had to come off.

Then Sally had her usual full groom and de-shed and actually enjoyed her groom and being fussed for a change, I think we've turned a corner there, Milo and Fernando had tummy trims and Milo had a full groom as well.

That's it for this week, I'm off to make some white sangria and take a long bath πŸ› 🍷.

Z**i was the only groom of the day due to the heatwave starting today and predicted to last the rest of this week. 😒

Thankfully, her appointment was early this morning before it got too hot to groom cats in.

Cool fact no 1:
Many people don't know this but cats 😺 typically do not sweat πŸ’¦ like other animals do. They only sweat through their paw pads not all over their body. 🐾 Could you imagine it - a sweaty cat??!!! πŸ˜‚

Cool fact no 2:
They also run at a higher body temperature 🌑️ than humans do. Add all this together plus the fact that the grooming process elevates their body temperature already and you have a higher risk of heat stroke/exhaustion in cats 😺 πŸ€’.

So, on days like today, I would rather be safe than sorry and reschedule appointments to a cooler day. 😎 ❄️

Z**i had lots of tight mats all over body and had started taking matters into her own hands. She is not a fan of our grooming sessions and so she is not neat but she is now comfortable and mat free.

Here she is, in her usual position after our grooms, with one leg cocked in the air giving herself a good clean!

Well I've made it to the end of the day/week! Not sure how I did but I've done 12 cats today!!!! Yikes! How the heck did I manage that?! and not a single picture of a one of them πŸ˜¬πŸ™ˆ.

I think I deserve this rather large glass of wine πŸ·πŸ˜‰.

Have a lovely weekend all!

P.S. I know I've been lazy with the pics recently. I'll get back on it soon I promise.

I had the pleasure of meeting and bathing this sweet little lady the other day. 2 and a half year old Morticia the sphynx. πŸˆβ€β¬›

Morticia has just found her new forever home 🏑 and her dad felt a bit out of his depths 😬 with how to look after her. Now he’s fully equipped for the job with the right tools and skills.

Sphynx cats need a lot more care than people think because of their oily skin.

Because they are hairless, they lack fur which would usually absorb all of the natural oils produced by the body so they need regular baths. This also affects their ears, making them more waxxy too and their eyes too as they don’t have eye lashes either! They really are a unique and loving breed.

What a cutie she is. πŸ₯°

Back to it today! Still not feeling 100% but I managed to groom a few cats.

Today we had Pickles, Freya and Benjamin. (In order of pics)

Pickles has cancer 😞 and so his coat is super greasy and mats up extremely easily. He is covered in scabs all over his body making a bath not a possible option. I groom him super gently every 3 weeks because of this. Today he was a little worse than usual so had to have a bit of clipping around both hips and his tummy.

Freya is a 9 month old maine c**n who had her first ever bits of matting removed followed by a full groom. She did really well for her first groom and handled the whole process like a star. Don't tell her mum how many treats she had though. πŸ™ˆπŸ™Š

Benjamin is 8 yrs old and has the softest fluffiest coat ever. He had his first ever proper bits of matting removed followed by a full groom. He was a little nervous at first and also unsure of me and warned me throughout but also purred and ate lick e lix which was a little confusing I think even for him. πŸ₯°
