SHE HAS BEEN COLLECTED BY THE DOG WARDEN - please contact Hilbrae directly on 01952 541254

We have had this sweet old Springer Spaniel handed in after she was found in the middle of the road in Church Aston. She is microchipped but we’re unfortunately unable to get in touch with the owners

If this is your dog please give us a call on 01952 820222. Proof of ownership will be required

Did you know that we have isolation facilities that are separate to cat and dog wards? This is essential for infectious patients to keep everyone safe. Here is our student vet nurse Shannon rocking isolation attire πŸ’πŸ»β€β™€οΈ

We hope everyone is staying cool and safe in the heatwave β˜€οΈ

As you can see these temperatures we are experiencing can be dangerous to our pets so we advise the following:

β˜€οΈ ❌ Please do not walk your dog. No dog walk is worth the risk of heat stroke. The best time to exercise your dog would be very early in the morning when it is cool.

β˜€οΈ ❌ Do not take your pet out in the car unless it is absolutely necessary. If you need to travel make sure the car is cooled with aircon and you provide breaks for water. Never leave your pet in the car, even just for a few minutes.

β˜€οΈ βœ… Provide access to plenty of water

β˜€οΈ βœ… Provide cooling treats like frozen plain yoghurt on lickemats or kongs. Ice cubes are ok to give too. Don’t forget you can freeze lickelix for cats too! 🐱

β˜€οΈβœ…Provide cooling mats and shade

β˜€οΈ βœ… Try to keep cats indoors where possible to keep them cool

β˜€οΈ ❌ Do not put wet towels on your pets. If you are worried about heatstroke pour over cold water and turn on the fan and contact us immediately.

β˜€οΈ βœ… 🐰 Ideally bring small furries inside to keep cool. Provide wet greens and plenty of water. Do regular grooming and checking of their bottoms to check for signs of fly strike.

β˜€οΈ ❌ 🐰Do not give small furries ice as this will upset their tummies.

⚠️ Extreme hot weather on Wednesday & Thursday ⚠️

Due to the anticipated hot weather tomorrow and Thursday we would advise taking extreme care taking your pets out in the car to come to see us.

As much as we love seeing you all, if you think your pet would be stressed coming to see us over the next couple of days and your appointment is not urgent feel free to call us to reschedule your appointment to a cooler day.

This is especially important for brachycephalic dogs (like pugs, frenchies etc) that struggle more in the heat, small furries (rabbits, guinea pigs etc), and any pets that get very stressed coming to see us.

We are of course happy to see any urgent and emergency appointments.

⚠️ Signs of heatstroke to be aware of: Excessive panting, drooling, restlessness, vomiting, weakness, seizures, collapse. Contact us immediately ‼️
