HEATSTROKE in DOGS - Signs to look out for:
(1) Excessive Panting: Dogs pant to cool themselves, but when overheated, panting becomes laboured and excessive.
(2) Heavy Drooling: Excessive drool, often thick, can be a sign of heatstroke.
(3) Bright Red Gums: The gums may be a deep red colour due to increased blood flow to the surface.
(4) Increased Heart Rate: A rapid heart rate is a common sign as the body struggles to regulate temperature
(5) Restlessness/Agitation: The dog may appear anxious, pacing, or seeking shade.
(6) Hot to the Touch: The dog's body temperature may be significantly elevated, making them feel hot when touched.
(7) Vomiting and/or Diarrhoea: These symptoms can indicate that the heatstroke is progressing.
(8) Weakness/Collapse: In severe cases, dogs may become weak, unable to stand, or even collapse.

βοΈJust be careful out there. Dogs need exercise, agreed but not in weather's like this π₯΅
β
οΈIt is better and healthier for them to stay in doors.
βοΈPutting paddling pools out to help keep them cool isn't the answer.
βοΈSoaking them down with hoses to cool them down & keep them out isn't the answer.
β
οΈFinding ways to keep them cool in the house and letting them just chill is the healthiest thing you can do with your dogs in the temps we currently have.
β Granted, some people need to take their dogs out to go to the toilet, but try and make it quick.
βοΈJust think of the dogs. If we are hot with barely any clothes on, then how do they feel with that layer of fur.
Why take the chance? ππ₯΅
