UPDATE- OWNER TRACED- thank you for all of the shares 💕

We are urgently trying to trace the owners of a cat found injured in Upper Ventnor this morning.
It was brought to us by a kindly member of the public as an emergency.
The cat is black, female and is wearing a cream collar.
Although chipped, the chip has not been registered and we really do need to find the owners.
If you believe this to be your cat, please call
07407 675258.

Please share

Lovely Humphrey took his procedure all in his stride this week and we’d love to make a castrate joke, but we don’t have the balls….

Humphrey was completely unfazed by it all and has melted a few hearts here.

Still the ‘ladies’ man, dear Humphrey enjoyed snuggles after his op with our head nurse Jen 🥰

If you’d like more information on neutering/ spaying, please take a look at our website or give one of our friendly team a call.

Goosey goosey Greta,
Whither shall you wander?
Not upstairs or downstairs
But in lovely Ros’s shed

Fantastic news this week, there are so many things that we are dealing with behind the scenes …
These include treating wildlife rescues from charities such as Friends of the Animals

Greta came to us a few weeks ago, and with nowhere on the Island available to help with her rehabilitation, our amazing receptionist Ros stepped up and offered to help…

Ros has a wealth of experience keeping geese behind her and Ros has taken such good care of Greta ,that, with the support of FOTA & Claire at Skippers Sanctuary, she was released two days ago to a ‘secret’ location to continue her rehab and live her best life.

Ros, we are all so ruddy proud of you ! All of our work family quite often go above and beyond, quietly behind the scenes … they never ask for recognition… they do what they do because they love it and love all animals ….

* release video in the comments , very evident how much joy this has given to our dear Ros

IMPORTANT INFORMATION- We have been asked to share this by Isle of Wight Trading Standards.

It has been brought to our attention that counterfeit Frontline Tick and Flea treatments are being made available for purchase within the UK.

In January, a consumer had unknowingly purchased counterfeit FRONTLINE tick and flea treatment. After using the product on his cat, Smokey, the animal became seriously unwell and required emergency intestinal surgery. Safety tests revealed the counterfeit contained a toxic insecticide, likely responsible for the cat’s condition.

Have you ordered a flea treatment that smelt funny or had unusual packaging? Don’t trust it.

One pet owner described flea treatment smelling like white spirit after buying from an unfamiliar seller. After investigating, she found out it was counterfeit.

Don’t take the risk with your pets health by saving a few pounds. Always purchase pet treatments from trusted retailers:

Pet owners urged to be wary of dangerous fake treatments discovered on e-commerce sites.

After a week when the heat has gotten to us a little, we were all in need of a .

We had a visit from Poppy with a very thoughtful gift of ice lollies ( thanks Pops, you do deserve that treat!)

We also had the pleasure of meeting little Norbert this week. Such a cutie, but we won’t embarrass him by telling you of his ‘ailment’ - thankfully quite normal and all part of growing up. 😁

We left work today tired, but still smiling.

Have a great weekend everyone and dare we say it…. Hope we get some rain and cooler weather soon ☔️

We’re immensely proud to be an independent veterinary practice and we take pride in providing a personal, caring service in a relaxed and friendly environment.

We currently have a vacancy for a full-time receptionist working 36-40 hours every week.

Do you think you have what it takes to join our family?

Great, but can you:

🐾 MULTI-TASK: Serve a queue of clients waiting whilst all 3 telephone lines are ringing at the same time!

😺 REMAIN CALM: Calm down a hysterical pet owner, obtain the facts and book them in for an emergency appointment.

🐰 SMILE: You’re the smiling face and the first person to greet clients and give their pets a good fuss.

🐶 CUDDLE A PUPPY ( or anything else that needs a cuddle)
This is the best part of the job!

☕️ MAKE TEA: For a colleague or client who’s just dealt or dealing with an upsetting situation.

💻 USE A PC: Enter lots of information, make appointments, respond to emails and process payments – all with an eye for detail.

👍 CAN-DO ATTITUDE: Everyone uses their initiative to help colleagues get the job done.

🧹 A DAB HAND WITH A MOP AND DUSTER

And that’s just for starters..!

If you think you have the qualities we need, please email your CV and a cover note to: [email protected]

If you’ve any questions, please don’t hesitate to call the practice and ask for Pete/Sandra

Closing date Friday 11th July 5:30pm

Please don’t comment here on Facebook as we won’t be able to respond.

🐾 Summer is here, and that means sunny days and warm walks with your furry friends. But remember, high temperatures can be harmful to your dog's paws and overall health. Here are some tips to keep your pup safe and happy during your outings:

It’s that time of year when baby birds are leaving their nests. 🪺
We are currently receiving lot’s of calls asking for advice from people who have found one.
Please take a look at the following from the RSPB
Fledgling advice - the RSPB advise that if you find a garden bird fledgling (fully feathered baby bird) on the ground, if they're not sick or injured they're usually best left alone. They intentionally leave the nest before they can fly, and their parents are usually nearby and still caring for them.
Fledglings will have to be transferred to a rescue if they been handled by humans as they are likely to be rejected by the adult bird 🐦

We’d like to introduce you to ‘Wonky Wendy’, who has recently been rehomed by one of our Reception team.
It’s safe to say that dear Wonky isn’t a great fan of the outside world at times.
She can be a bit of a shouty numpty when out on walks- people, dogs, cars, traffic cones and rocks are just some some of the things that cause her anxiety.
However, this little yellow flag that Velcro’s to her lead has been a huge game changer when out walking!
It’s a great visual aid to let people know that both she (and her owner 😁) appreciate a bit of personal space when out and about.
For the most part people have been great at giving her space, as although she is always walked in quiet areas, at times it’s nigh on impossible to avoid meeting other people.
The great news is that we are now selling these little yellow flags at the practice, as well as a snazzy high viz ‘I need space’ jacket for small dogs.
If you have an anxious, nervous dog who may benefit from one… or if your dog is fine but you just don’t like people, pop in and grab one 😂
