Important announcement from Emma (Feline Good owner/groomer.

I am very sorry to announce that Feline Good Cat Grooming will be closing at the end of September 2023. This is because I am relocating to Switzerland to accompany my partner on his new job.

At time of posting, we still have some slots available in September- once these are filled and confirmed by deposits we will close our books to further bookings.

All booked appointments will be honoured, so please don't worry if you have confirmed an appointment with us - it will be going ahead exactly as planned 😸

To ensure your kitties' grooming needs continue to be met following our closure, I have arranged to refer enquiries to other trained cat groomers in the area. The following 2 groomers have kindly agreed to accept redirected enquiries:

The decision to close up and move hasn't been an easy one; 3 years ago to the week, I was announcing the opening of my new business. I'm really sad to be leaving behind my lovely clients! And so grateful to all of you for your custom and support these past 3 years.

I will be away next week in Switzerland looking for places to live, but salon assistant Faith will be available on the usual days to respond to enquiries and any questions you have.

Flame-point ragdoll girl Pumpkin visited again recently - isn't she beautiful? Such stunning colours in her coat 🤩 She is a little spicy for grooming and expressed her opinions, but we got there and we're all still friends 😸

✏🌞 In this warm weather, the Feline Good salon air-conditioner is keeping us chill! ❄ However, if you are concerned about transporting your kitty to us in the warm weather, please contact us 🌞✏
Ragdoll kitty Nova has been visiting for a little while to help with her mat-prone coat. Once we were confident we had built a trusting relationship with Nova, we decided moving from dry to wet grooming would be in her best interest, because she has quite an oily coat and only bathing can properly remediate this. This was her first wet (bath&dry) groom, and she did so well! Even rolled onto her back on the groomer's lap to ask for tummy tickles during blow drying 🥰
Ideally, we would always bath; it provides the best results, all else being equal. However, we work with cats! So, we also need to bear in mind the cat's temperament, their age and health, their experience with bathing and blow drying and how long they need to build a trusting relationship with us. We always work according to what the cat is comfortable with; it is of critical importance to us to provide a safe and fear-free experience, and avoid teaching cats that grooming is something to be afraid of 💗

Domestic shorthair Biddy and the dead fur removed from his coat at his latest groom. Biddy's family bring him to us to be groomed every 12 weeks, to prevent the uncomfortable matting he has previously been prone to 🐱

This beauty of a kitty, with stunning mismatched (blue/green) eyes 😻, named Zuri visited recently for the first time. Her fluffy white coat was in good shape with no matting, however she needed assistance with a few unwelcome passengers (fleas) 👀 and so - having assessed her coat and temperament - we proceeded to give her a flea bath, dry and flea combing.
Zuri is a shy kitty, and very gentle and affectionate; she responded well to our grooming methods. She particularly relaxed during the gentle blow dry and flea combing stage, it was lovely to see 🥰 We hope to work with this adorable kitty again soon 💕

Persia, a beautiful little domestic short-hair, needed some help with a few unwelcome guests in her glossy coat: fleas. Persia is a sweet affectionate girl who loves the gentle blow-dry and flea combing process - of course she gets cuddles and chin scritches as well 💗
Fleas are a total pain to fully eradicate from kitty and home once established; preventative vet-prescribed flea treatments applied as recommended are best, even if your kitty is indoor-only. Fleas and flea eggs can be carried in on feline, canine and even human visitors to your home. We have seen a number of flea-carrying indoor-only cats in salon, so indoor-only cats can (and do!) catch fleas on occasion, as well as outdoor kitties. The pesky parasites get everywhere, and are very hardy! 👀

Kyo, a beautiful 7 month old Maine C**n visited recently for his first professional groom 😻 Kyo means "Apricot", named after the stunning dilute red shade of his coat 💗
As with most cats under 1 year old, we began immediately with a Full Wet Groom at his first visit; kitties below 1 year old are at an ideal age to gently introduce to a bath and dry. Kyo did amazingly, he was very calm about the bath (and so curious! playing with the tip of his wet tail!) and enjoyed his gentle blow dry so much he dozed off - when he wasn't playing with the comb or wanting to hold the groomer's hands 😸 Kyo is now on a regular grooming schedule to keep his typically oily Maine C**n coat in great condition 😻

✏️ Quick note just to make you all aware that there are a number of road closures/roadworks affecting the Newport Pagnell area right now. Particularly the London Road (impacting anyone who normally comes off J14 of the M1 to get to us), and Tickford Street closures. You may wish to double-check your route and travel time, if you have an appointment with us in the next month or two ✏️

Summer can be a rather uncomfortable time for kitties (and staff too!) and we're all very glad we can keep things cool!

Kitty is the beautiful ragdoll Luna who visited us today for her first ever groom. She's now going onto a regular grooming schedule so we can help her owners keep her soft fluffy coat in excellent condition. She was a very sweet girl and we can't wait to see her again.
