Our Story

I began my taxidermy journey in 1997 while working for the RSPCA. I was rescuing and rehabilitating wildlife in Cumbria, but not all could be saved. Having always been fascinated with natural history and wildlife and having a lifelong love and curiosity about taxidermy, I thought I’d “give it a go”.

I got myself several books (no YouTube then) and started working on my first bird, which, was an unfortunate buzzard that turned out resembling a large chicken. Nevertheless, I was very proud of it.

I persevered and after about three years, felt I was producing mounts that did resemble the creature in life. It was not until I joined the Guild of Taxidermy and got know other taxidermists that I started not just looking, but observing wildlife in a more detailed way, that my work really started to improve.

Everyday is a school day and one strives to improve with every mount. Alas, it is not always possible but as long as the ambition and passion are there, there is always the chance. Commissions welcome.
