When talking to people who use our pet food bank (Cda pet food bank) we hear that most feel pet food banks should not exist in todays society and that benefits should at least cover essential living costs, but with the cuts we don’t foresee any end to the use of pet food banks along with human food banks.
We want to change the need for pet food banks and you can do this by emailing your MP about the benefit cuts.

This is a Senior Labour MP who claimed £900 of your money to keep her pet in her 2nd home.
It is my understanding that her landlord like others charged her incase of damages the pet may have made, also IPSA The Independent Parliamentary Standards Authority agreed to it, so I am not accusing her of breaking any parliamentary rules, however I spent 1/2 of last week after the Green paper and the Spring Statement came out talking to people who were distraught and terrified when the health cuts come in that they will have to give their beloved pets away. I am absolutely furious that our MP’s are taking us for fools and our money. The point I am making is some MP’s have no moral compass and imo shouldn’t be in politics and I am 100% sure she would have, like many other working people have family who could have taken care of the dog. It’s an absolute disgrace.

When pet owners are stressed so are their pets. When the body is living in constant hunger the pet is suffering, and this constant hunger means the body is trapping vital resources and there is no energy for growth or repair from injuries, so being hungry doesn’t just make your tummy grumble it has hidden effects we don’t see.

Ending pet poverty only happens when their owners have the financial resources to do so. So what we advocate for is a security system that pays enough, the right support and advice for their pets, people are supported by organisations who don’t judge either on economics or geographics which happens more than you think. Everyone needs to feel secure to be happy and happy owners have happy pets.
