🐴 6-WEEK EQUINE-ASSISTED SUPPORT PROGRAMME – NEW SCHOOL YEAR

With the new school year beginning, No Reins is opening spaces for our 6-week equine-assisted support programme for children and young people who may be struggling.

Sessions are groundwork-based – no riding and no previous experience with horses is needed.

The programme can support young people experiencing:

• Anxiety or low confidence
• Difficulties with emotional regulation
• Low self-esteem
• School avoidance or difficulties engaging with education
• SEND or additional needs
• Social or communication difficulties
• Challenges with relationships, trust or boundaries
• Young people who simply need a different environment in which to feel safe, understood and successful

Over six sessions, we use carefully planned activities alongside our horses to build confidence, communication, emotional awareness, resilience and self-belief.

🏫 Schools & professionals: We are currently reaching out directly to local schools as the new academic year begins. If you are a SENCO, pastoral lead, teacher or other professional supporting a young person who may benefit, please get in touch.

💛 Parents & carers: You do not need to wait for a school referral. Parents and carers can self-refer their child or young person directly to No Reins to discuss whether the programme could be suitable.

We work with primary and secondary-aged young people, and sessions are tailored around the individual rather than taking a one-size-fits-all approach.

📩 Please message No Reins for further information or to discuss a referral.

PLEASE SHARE – particularly with parents, carers, SENCOs, teachers, pastoral teams and anyone working with children and young people locally. One share could put this in front of a family or professional looking for exactly this kind of support.

No fear… no fences… No Reins. 🐴

🐴❤️ Six years since I last rode this girl…

Today I got back on Echo for a plod.

She’s 28 years young now, and the last time I actually rode her was six years ago — but today we headed out together again.

And she absolutely LOVED it. 🥰

Ears forward, marching out and clearly very pleased to be back out exploring. It was so lovely to feel how much she was enjoying herself.

At 28, Echo may be one of the older members of the No Reins herd, but today she reminded me that age really is just a number.

I think we both came home with a smile on our faces. ❤️🐴

🌱 THE GRASS IS GREEN!! 🌱

After what feels like forever staring at dry, brown fields… we finally have GREEN! 💚

The rain has worked its magic and the grass is actually starting to grow again. 🙌

It might not look like much to everyone else, but when you’ve spent the summer worrying about grazing, watching the fields disappear and desperately rain dancing… this is a VERY exciting sight! 😂🌧️

Come on little grass… GROW, GROW, GROW! 🌱🐴💚

🌧️🌧️ RAIN!!! ACTUAL, PROPER RAIN!!! 🌧️🌧️

I don't think I've ever been this happy to see the yard looking like a swamp! 😂🙌

After weeks of staring at rock-hard, dusty ground and fields that have forgotten what the colour green looks like... LOOK AT IT! 💦💦💦

Puddles. Mud. Standing water. Absolutely glorious! 🤣

Never thought I'd be celebrating soggy feet and muddy gateways, but when you've got horses and land that desperately need it, this is a VERY beautiful sight. 🌱🐴

Keep going, rain... we've missed you! 🌧️💚

No fear… no fences… No Reins. Plenty of RAIN!! 🤣

We all need someone in our corner. ❤️🐴

Watching these two standing together, heads down, sharing their hay, got me thinking about how important our support systems really are.

And that doesn’t change with age.

Children need them. Teenagers need them. Adults need them. Parents, carers, professionals, business owners, people who look like they’ve got everything together… we all need them.

Sometimes support is advice or practical help. Sometimes it’s someone cheering you on when things are going well. And sometimes it’s simply having someone quietly beside you when they’re not.

We aren’t meant to navigate everything alone.

So find your herd. 🐴❤️
And perhaps just as importantly, be part of someone else’s.

Because life feels a little easier when you know somebody is standing beside you.

No fear… no fences… No Reins.

What a brilliant day at No Reins! 🐴💚

This morning we welcomed Positive Futures and the most wonderfully energetic bunch of young people!

There was lots of enthusiasm, plenty of laughter and one moment that absolutely made my day. One of the lads suddenly announced:

“My dreams have come true… my horse has pooed!” 🤣💩🐴

Never have I seen anyone so genuinely delighted about horse poo! He had been desperate to do some poo picking and, true to his word, he was still happily poo picking the horses before he left. 😂

Sometimes it’s the simplest things that create the biggest smiles.

Then this afternoon it was time for Week 2 of Beyond the Reins Academy. 🐎📚

We started by recapping some of what we learned last week about colours and points of the horse, and it was fantastic to see how much had already stuck.

This week we moved on to tack and tacking up, learning the different parts of the bridle, where they go and what they’re used for. We also explored the gaits of the horse, learning the differences between walk, trot, canter and gallop.

Another day where learning didn’t look much like sitting behind a desk. 💚

Two very different sessions, two fantastic groups of young people, and plenty of horses, learning, laughter… and apparently some VERY exciting poo. 🤣🐴💩

No fear… no fences… No Reins.

Today’s session with Positive Futures was all about discovering that you’re capable of more than you think. 🐴💛

We started by slowing things down and spending time grooming the horses, observing them, reading their body language and building that quiet connection that happens when there’s no pressure to perform.

Then came the challenges.

The young people were encouraged to problem-solve, communicate, work with the horses and have a go at things that might initially have felt difficult, uncomfortable or even impossible.

And that was really the point of today.

Sometimes we decide what we can’t do before we’ve even tried. We put invisible fences around ourselves because of fear, confidence, past experiences or simply because nobody has ever shown us that another way is possible.

Today wasn’t about being the best.
It wasn’t about getting everything right.

It was about having a go.
Adapting when something didn’t work.
Recognising your own strengths.
And discovering that “I can’t” can very quickly become “I just did.” 💪🐎

The horses have a wonderful way of teaching that lesson without ever needing to say a word.

We finished the day reflecting on what each young person had achieved and, most importantly, what they could take from today and carry into life beyond the field.

Because the fences that hold us back aren’t always made of wood.

NO FEAR… NO FENCES… NO REINS.

Let nothing get in the way of achieving what you want your life to be. ❤️

Cowboy & Stetson are ready to hit the road! 🚐🐴

These two may be tiny, but they have a wonderful way of bringing smiles, laughter, calm and connection wherever they go. 🥰

🏡 Do you know a care home that would love them? 💛 A hospice where they could brighten someone’s day? 🌈 A group or setting where a visit from Cowboy & Stetson could make a real difference?
👇 TAG THEM BELOW! 👇

💛 As a Community Interest Company, funding and donations help us take visits like these to people who can benefit from them most. If you or a local business would like to sponsor a visit or make a donation towards our work, we’d be incredibly grateful. 🐴💛
