🐾 Knowing When to Stop is Just as Important as Knowing What to Do 🐾
Today I groomed this lovely girl, and while we got most of the groom completed, I made the decision not to fully dry her ears.
As groomers, our priority is always the welfare of the dogs in our care. Drying ears can be an important part of the process, but when a dog becomes overly stressed, anxious, or uncomfortable, it’s important to recognise that pushing through isn’t always the right answer.
A successful groom isn’t about perfection at any cost—it’s about building trust, creating a positive experience, and ensuring the dog leaves feeling safe. Sometimes that means adapting the groom, taking things slower, or stopping a particular part of the process altogether.
Every dog has different limits, and listening to what they’re telling us is part of being a responsible, compassionate groomer. I’d much rather leave a pair of slightly damp ears than risk turning grooming into a negative experience for her.
Progress over perfection, always. ❤️🐶
