APHA: The Avian Influenza Prevention Zone (AIPZ) housing measures for poultry & captive birds in England will be lifted from 00:01 on 15 May. If you intend to allow your birds outside after 15 May, take action now to prepare outside areas. As birds may have been housed for several months, there will be a 7 day transition period from 00:01 on 15 May until 00:01 on 22 May 2025 during which, where necessary, previously housed birds must be released gradually to minimise welfare issues. Keepers with any welfare concerns about their birds should speak to their vet. We would like to thank all bird keepers for playing their part in managing this disease. Time to house your poultry again.

APHA: In response to the significant increase of findings of avian influenza in kept and wild birds, from 00:01 on Sun 16 Feb, mandatory housing measures to protect poultry & captive birds will be extended to Cheshire, Herefordshire, Lancashire, Merseyside and Worcestershire. All bird keepers in these areas must, from this date, house their birds in addition to following stringent biosecurity measures. If you fall into a Protection Zone outside of these areas, you must also house your birds. The AIPZ mandating enhanced biosecurity remains in place across GB. Further info is available at:

Coronation Orchard Funding Grant – Fruit Trees Available for plot holders at Littlers pasture farm allotments.

We are delighted to announce that we have received a funding grant to create a Coronation Orchard! As part of this initiative, we will be providing 50+ fruit trees, along with stakes, ties, and tree guards.

Availability:
- A maximum of 1 tree per plot (not per plot holder). For example, if you have 5 plots, you can plant one tree on each of your plots.
- Trees may also be planted on vacant plots bordering yours. If you have any objections to this, please inform us. Any fruit grown on vacant plots may be donated locally.

Conditions for Receiving a Tree:
1. Trees must be planted before 31/03/2025 – the sooner, the better!
2. You must send a photo as evidence of planting.
3. You will need to sign a media consent form, as Pendle Council and Littlers Pasture Farm may use the photos for promotional purposes.
4. You must agree to maintain the trees and send one photo per year of the trees until 2030 or the end of your tenancy.
5. Any excess fruit should be donated locally or used personally. The fruit must not be sold for profit, and all activities must align with your current tenancy agreement.
