Whilst this is a very positive upgrade, like all technology there are teething errors all of which are being rectified immediately. 💪🏼

One hitch which had cropped up today is the reminder run. 🤦🏼‍♀️

Please bare with us whilst we get to the bottom of this and if you have received a reminder for a vaccination which your pet has already had please ignore. 🙏🏻

Please rest assured that it’s business as usual here at Arberth.

If you do need our emergency services on Saturday please keep in mind that there will be a lot of traffic in Narberth and to contact us between 8am - 9am.

These closures will also interrupt travelling to our out of hours providers CVC.

The team are on hand tomorrow if you have questions.

⛔ The A40 will be closed in both directions between Robeston Wathen and Penblewin roundabouts from 8pm Friday, 19th April to 6am Monday, 22nd April. ⛔

The weekend closure is part of the A40 Llanddewi Velfrey to Redstone Cross Improvements and is required to enable construction of the Redstone Flyover Bridge north of Narberth.

An emergency diversion will be in place for emergency vehicles, those attending hospital and local residents from each of the A40 roundabouts.

All other traffic will be diverted via the A4076 and A477 towards Pembroke Dock.

🗺️ Please plan your journey well ahead, as it is likely to be a busy weekend.

‼️New Prescription Rules From The RCVS.‼️

From the 1st September 2023 the Royal College of veterinary Surgeons (RCVS, the regulatory body for the veterinary profession in the UK) is introducing a new guidance on prescribing prescription only medicines.

The full guidance can be found on : https://www.rcvs.org.uk/setting-standards/advice-and-guidance/under-care-new-guidance/

The new guidance requires that a physical examination of the pet has to be performed every time any antibiotics, antifungals, antivirals and antiparasiticides are prescribed. This includes topical preparations such as ear and eye drops, and all prescription flea/worm/tick products.

The guidance is an important step towards ensuring responsible use and reducing the veterinary impact on the wider issues of global antibiotic resistance and decline of insect populations.

What this means in practice is that:-

Your pet will need to come in for an in-person consultation every time we need to prescribe medication for an
🐶ear infection (contain antibiotics)
🐱to prescribe antibiotics for any skin problem, even if its a chronic problem.
🐰If we or you decide to change from one flea/worm/tick product to another.
🦮If we suspect a urinary tract infection.
🐈If we suspect a gastrointestinal infection.

🐾For long term prescription medication that is not an antibiotic/antiparasitic, our usual policy of requiring an examination every 3-6 months (depending on the medication used) continues to apply.🐾

Thank you to those clients for their understanding whilst we tighten up and implement these adjustments.
Sadly we have received some abuse over the phones for some that don’t agree, this will no longer be tolerated.

Vet practices, rescue centres and charities are inundated at the moment with unwanted kittens.😢

Kittens that are abandoned and very unwell.😢

Kittens having kittens and unable to look after them.😢

Unwanted kittens unvaccinated and spreading feline diseases. 😢

👉🏻All of this can be avoided by simply neutering your cat. 👈🏻

Are you aware that if you see ferral cats that are not neutered there is help to get them neutered! 🤔
It is a crisis that needs to be controlled. Help us help the cats. 🙏🏻🐈‍⬛

When your cat has been in a cat fight, even the smallest of bite wounds can turn out to be very infectious.

❤️‍🩹Have you considered the cost of treating all these potential wounds?
🥷Have you considered the stress your cat is under always having to fight just to get home after a days hunting?
💉Have you considered annual vaccinations to reduce the risk of passing on diseases?
🐈Have you considered neutering your cat! It will not totally eliminate the above but it will reduce it dramatically.

Lifetime insurance cover is always recommended. When you have a pet do a little research to help with vets fees should the above happen.

🐱Cats acting unusual
🐱Unwanted kittens roaming
🐱Cats passing on infections and diseases
🐱Cat flu
🐱worms
🐱Fleas
🐱Maggots

The list is endless and the current situation is very sad.
Rescue centres are reaching limits and their emotions are tested.

All of the above can be avoided by simply neutering your cat.
