There are a few reasons why it is just as important, for smaller dogs and those that aren't high energy, to have regular walks.
Mental health π§
Regular walks provide dogs with enrichment for their mind. It doesn't have to be a fast-paced walk, where the dog is running around, burning off energy. Slow-paced walks are just as good because sniffing is how dogs explore the environment and it releases dopamine (the feel good chemical).
Physical Health πββοΈ
Taking your dog on regular walks is important for their health, it can help to prevent chronic health conditions and keep your dog's weight under control.
Socialisation π£
Walking is great for socialising your dog - espeically small dogs that are often a bit more wary of the world. Getting your dog out and about frequently, means that they can explore new sounds, smells and noises, which will helps their confidence grow. It also means that your dog can meet other dogs, if they like interacting with others.
Make sure you are walking your dogs that aren't neccessarily "high-energy", as it is just important for them to have exercise.
I offer shorter 30 minute walks, they are great for dogs that don't need to exerice for an hour and would just like to get out and explore for a bit.
The 30 minute walks that I offer, are both solo and group walks. Message me if you would like any more information.
