Our final fosterer story comes from a first timer!
“Firstly I would start off by saying I wholeheartedly recommend GAL and fostering these wonderful dogs.
As a first time fosterer if you have any inclination about fostering I couldn’t recommend it more!
When I first started thinking of fostering I reached out to a few different charities to express interest. Unfortunately I found that some other organisations either didn’t respond to my enquiry or asked for documents then didn’t follow up. However when I reached out to GAL they responded and got me through the initial process quickly. I had some very friendly chats with the team to learn a bit about them and what I was looking for from the experience.
Following some initial discussions, form completion and a virtual home check (while the team do a fantastic job of making sure things are a right match and everyone is comfortable and safe, this isn’t an overly tedious process so don’t be put off) I was ready to go!
I was matched up with an experienced foster buddy who reached out to get to know me and give me the scoop on how the process works and what to expect and reassure me that there is ALWAYS support available from someone at the team.
Shortly after I was matched with my first foster Loki. A GAL volunteer arranged the handover and I was fully briefed on his background, personality, routines etc so felt very well prepared, it was all very organised and stress free.
I had an incredible time fostering the lovely Loki who was such a sweetheart to look after. Before and during this time GAL provided everything I could need at their expense, his transport, food, toys, clothing, harness, lead, bed, bowls, everything! I was also reassured that should anything unexpected happen they have their own insurance covering the dogs if they ever need a VET trip.
Overall, the team at GAL has been so informative, supportive, and friendly making the whole process so easy and rewarding that I couldn’t suggest them more. If you have any interest or questions about fostering these fantastic doggies then please reach out to them!
