I love the work that Girl With The Dogs does and I have learnt so much, both as a groomer and as a dog owner. 🐕 🐾

This is the pre-bath blowout.
Also known as: I become a human lint roller.

Yes, that is dog dander in my eyelashes.
Yes, I inhaled an entire second dog.
No, I cannot sit in my car like this.

But these are always the dogs that needed me the most.

Undercoat like this isn’t just messy, it’s uncomfortable. It pulls on their skin, traps moisture, and they live itchy and hot every single day until someone helps them.

I go home disgusting.
She goes home comfortable and able to sleep properly tonight.

This is also exactly why I started Barely A Dog Rescue

Not every owner is neglectful. Sometimes people just can’t afford a large de-shed or medical grooming, sometimes tragedy strikes, and the dog quietly suffers for it.

Our rescue will be providing financial assistance for grooming and basic care, so pets like this can get relief before their condition becomes painful.

I am an avid reader, and one of my recent books has featured Cerberus, the three-headed guard dog of the Underworld. I'm so glad that Cerberus originates from Greek mythology rather than being an actual breed in today's world. Trying to get one dog's head to stay still enough for a haircut is challenging enough without having to contend with three! Image created using ChatGPT.

So, this is a post I'd hoped not to make. However, the reality is, along with lots of other rescues in the country, we are against the wall financially.

This picture was taken today, Saturday 11th October 2025. We have enough money to last three weeks.

The cheapest coffee in Costa is £3.70. A cheapest coffee in Greggs is £1.60.

If even a fifth of the 25,000+ donated the price of a Greggs coffee once a month it would generate an income of £8,000.

This means we would survive to continue saving the lives of dogs who need us.
