About me

My name is Claire Mckay and I’m a dog trainer based in the Highlands. I’ve been brought up with dogs, specifically German Shepherds and I’ve continued my love of them into adulthood. As a first-time owner of my German Shepherd Kali back in 2011, who was 4 years old when I welcomed her into our family. I always wanted to understand why dogs acted in certain ways and longed to learn more about them. Kali passed over the rainbow bridge in October 2018 and will always be a special dog to me. I still have my Black Labrador Brodie (9 years) and my Working Cocker Spaniel Harley (4 years). I took Brodie in when he was just 3 years old. Harley is the first dog i have brought up from a puppy. Through my training courses and also what my dogs have taught me, I believe in developing a mutual understanding and trust between you and your dog, because caring for a dog in your home is as much about responsibility as it is about love. I myself have had my fair share of problems with unwanted behaviours and know how frustrating it can be not to be able to communicate better with our dogs.

I also used to work as a dog walker in 2016 which i absolutely loved. During this time i tended to get the dogs who had behavioural problems, the ones that other mainstream dog walkers couldn't take due to them being dog reactive etc. This really pushed me to want to help them and their owners. You could say i took on the challenging dogs. This made me want to gain more knowledge on how to correct unwanted behaviours and so began my journey.
