This week we unfortunately had to say goodbye to one of the MCM OG’s, Reggie.

The decision was made to let him fall asleep one last time with the people he loves around him, after a short struggle with a rapidly progressive illness.

Reggie was one of the first dogs I took on and was a firm favourite with all the dogs and people alike that we met out on walks.

He will be sorely missed and lovingly remembered as the good boy with the huge smile. 🖤

What a year 🫶🏼

It’s been a rollercoaster of a year and I can’t even begin to thank each and every one of you enough for your continued trust and support, both professionally and personally. Roll on another year with MCM family.

Wishing you all a happy and healthy Christmas and New Year.

All our love,
Lauren and Winnie 🐾🖤

An important (though not very pleasant) post today, shared with full permission from Jackson’s lovely owners, in the hope it helps raise awareness.

While walking Jackson earlier today, we had a frightening incident where he darted into a bush and came out with something in his mouth. Before I had time to react, he’d swallowed it and immediately began choking and vomiting.

It was a genuinely life-threatening situation, but thanks to my canine first aid training and my ongoing commitment to keeping my knowledge up to date, I was able to act quickly and confidently.

I identified that he had a ball lodged in his throat. I managed to dislodge it upwards enough to reach in and remove it by hand. Jackson recovered quickly, no harm done, tail between his legs. Needless to say, the tennis ball went straight in the bin.

This was a scary reminder of how important it is to choose toys that are safe and size-appropriate for your dog. Tennis balls may seem harmless, but for larger dogs they can pose a serious choking hazard. This is why you’ll only see me using toys like balls on ropes or floatable fetch toys for our larger dogs, as they’re much safer and reduce the risk of accidents like this.

I’ve included a few examples of safer alternatives in this post, modelled by our lovely Jacko, in the hopes that it helps you choose better options for your own dogs.

Lastly, I truly believe canine first aid is something every dog owner should consider learning. It’s not just for professionals. In an emergency, it could make all the difference. I’ll also post a link below for you to copy and paste that directs you to a video showing a technique similar to how I dislodged the ball.

Stay safe and give your dogs an extra cuddle tonight!
- Lauren 🖤🐾

Winnie and I had the pleasure of being invited to spend some time at our local reablement centre today, a place that offers support for adults with a range of additional needs.

Spending time with dogs can reduce anxiety and depression symptoms, boost oxytocin (the happy hormone), and help to encourage some lovely social interactions.

Today was filled with lots of smiles, lots of stories, and lots of tail wags. And a sneaky biscuit or two!

If this is something you’d be interested in, drop us a message and we can arrange a visit ABSOLUTELY FREE to similar establishments.

We are fully insured, and Winnie is specifically trained to maintain a calm temperament and to be friendly, sociable, gentle and tolerant!

Thanks for helping to organise! 🖤

Remember Otis?

The tiny Dachshund with the BIG attitude?

Couldn’t walk up the street without loosing his 💩 at any dog in sight?

Well, we:
✅ Sharpened up our communication system
✅ Established a nice loose-lead walk
✅ Introduced controlled trigger exposure
✅ Coached him through appropriate social behaviour

The result?

Today, they walked around an hour to a cafe a couple of villages over. Walked past other dogs. Sat in a cafe across from an unknown dog. And they actually ENJOYED their time.

❌ No lunging
❌ No barking
❌ No inconsolable trembling or fidgeting

Just a nice, relaxed day out.

Is this something you could only dream of?
The thought of a pub or cafe trip stress-inducing?

We can get you there. Drop us a DM now! 🖤🐾
