We're Dawn and Rebecca

It’s just us – two North East women who love dogs and had a big dream 10 years ago. What started as a simple idea (and a lot of late nights, new notebooks, and muddy boots!) has grown into something we could never have imagined: the North East Dog Festival.

We've built it from scratch – no big teams or flashy budgets – just passion, determination, two extremely supportive families, and the belief that dog lovers across our region deserved a festival that was fun and educational.

We've always held the belief that our dogs should be given the best life possible for the short time they grace our lives - and that is very much the inspiration for the festival.

Over the last decade, we’ve laughed, we've cried and we've shared unforgettable moments with thousands of dogs and their humans. From the first wagging tails that came through the gates to the record-breaking crowds of recent years, every single one of you that has joined us has played a part in this story. Sometimes we have to step back and remind ourselves that our team bring a 20 acre field to life every year.

So here’s to 10 years of community and celebration and a gentle reminder that when you send us an email, leave us a comment or send us a direct message...we are behind that screen and we are human; we listen, we take note and we do our absolute best.

We can’t wait to welcome you back this year at Kirkley Hall for another fantastic weekend festival.

We’ve been on site all morning checking to make sure everything is tip top for festival weekend! 👌

One of the most common questions we get asked is “where is our forward parking in relation to the festival?”

So we thought a visual would help! The field on the left is used for our disabled and forward parking- both of which must be pre booked via our online ticket portal. Last year both sold out by festival weekend.

The field on the right is where the action happens!

While we don't physically treat a dog's eyes, their appearance can reveal a great deal about their comfort level.

The good news is that as a dog's comfort improves, you'll often see a positive change in their eyes and as the saying goes “the eyes are the window to the soul".

10 years!! And I'm proud to have been representing Galen Myotherapy at every The North East Dog Festival event. We've grown too - this year we'll have a team of Galen Myotherapists from Northumberland, Newcastle, Derbyshire, Cumbria and North Yorkshire all keen to chat about your dogs and help you to maximise and maintain their mobility.
