Beautiful Lunar was in with us recently to see Vet Kate and Anaesthetic Nurse Dan. for her spay surgery — and she was an absolute sweetheart throughout! 💜

To support her recovery, Lunar also received post-operative laser therapy, which helps reduce inflammation, relieve pain, and promote faster healing after surgery. It's a gentle, non-invasive way to make recovery more comfortable for our patients.

Lunar did brilliantly and is now resting up at home — we’ll see her soon for her post-op check!

The very handsome Ronnie was in with us recently for his cat castration, cared for by Vet Kate and Anaesthetic Nurse Olivia 💙

Castration is a routine procedure that not only prevents unwanted litters but also has health and behavioural benefits — such as reducing the risk of certain cancers and helping to reduce spraying and roaming behaviour.

Ronnie was a brilliant patient and is now back home recovering well!

: Smudge 🐱

Delightful Smudge was in with us recently for his Stage One dental procedure, and he was such a sweetheart — giving the team plenty of headbutts and affection throughout the day! 💚

🦷 Smudge was cared for by our Dental Nurse Cas and Anaesthetic Nurse Shiv, and had a full workup including blood tests and a T4 check to assess his thyroid health — an important step for our more senior feline patients.

He absolutely loved his post-op dinner and made himself right at home 😺

Smudge will be back soon for his Stage Two dental, where we’ll carry out any necessary extractions to keep his mouth healthy and pain-free.

: Toby 🐶

Lovely Toby came in recently for his castration surgery, with pre-operative blood tests to check everything was in order beforehand. He was looked after by Vet Kate and Anaesthetic Nurse Dan, who ensured his care was smooth and stress-free throughout the day 💛

✨ Toby also received post-operative laser therapy, which is a non-invasive treatment that helps reduce inflammation, ease pain, and promote faster healing following surgery. It’s a great tool to support our patients’ comfort and recovery.

Toby was a total star — calm, affectionate, and wagging his tail as soon as he woke up. We’re happy to report he’s recovering well and will be back soon for his post-op check.

🎉 Prize Winner Alert!

This is Buddy and his lovely mum Becki, who popped in this afternoon to collect their runner-up prize from our PH4L raffle — a big hamper packed full of goodies, toys, and tasty treats! 🐾🎁

We were so pleased to see them both — and of course Buddy brought along his waggy tail and big smiles to brighten up our day. 💖

A huge thank you again to everyone who entered and supported the event!

🌿✨ We’re Going Greener! ✨🌿

We’re incredibly proud to share that in 2024, Abbey House Vets achieved Silver Accreditation from Investors in the Environment (iiE)! 💚🌍

Investors in the Environment is a national accreditation scheme that supports businesses in reducing their environmental impact. Achieving Silver means we’ve gone beyond the basics — making long-term, measurable improvements and embedding sustainability into how we work.

This fantastic achievement is the result of the hard work and passion of our amazing iiE Lead, Vicky, and our Green Team, led by Green Champion Amy. Together, they’ve inspired real change across our practices — and it wouldn’t have been possible without input from our whole team.

🗣️ “We made a point of listening to input from the whole team — every idea matters when it comes to making a difference.”
♻️ “We’ve focused on reducing our waste across all sites — cutting down single-use items and improving our recycling.”
🚗 “We’re also looking closely at how we travel — making smarter, greener choices where we can.”

This is just the beginning. 💪

: Tilly 🐱
Gorgeous Tilly was in with us recently for her spay surgery and microchip placement, looked after by Vet Surgeon Kate and Anaesthetic Nurse Dan. She was the sweetest patient — purring all day long and stealing hearts throughout the practice!

✨ Tilly also received post-operative laser therapy, which helps to reduce inflammation, ease discomfort, and speed up healing after surgery - swipe in the photos to see her goggles on for this!

She went home wearing a medical pet shirt, a soft, stretchy alternative to the traditional plastic buster collar. These shirts help protect the surgical site, reduce stress, and allow pets to move more comfortably while they recover.

Well done, Tilly — you were an absolute star! 🌟

: Axl 🐾
Handsome Axl, a 1 year and 10-month-old Italian Greyhound, recently came in for a CT scan after his owners noticed some ‘clicking’ sounds in his back legs.

To investigate further, our Lead Surgical Nurse Hannah and Anaesthetic Nurse Dan performed a CT of his stifles (knees) and hips to help identify the cause and guide the next steps in his care.

CT imaging provides incredibly detailed views of the joints and bones, allowing our team to spot subtle changes that might not show up on standard X-rays — helping us deliver the best possible care for patients like Axl.

Well done, Axl — you were such a calm and lovely boy during your visit! 💛
