UNFORTUNATELY THIS POST IS IN RESPONSE TO TOO MANY “anonymous” posters on facebook saying that unless saddle fitters are SMS qualified we are not qualified!?
PLEASE, PLEASE in future, ensure your facts are correct BEFORE condemning a small business that has been running for over 25 years - it’s unfair & very unkind.
Facts - We are ADVANCED saddle fitters.
We are REGISTERED, INSURED & above all FULLY QUALIFIED ADVANCED SADDLE FITTERS AND MCTIMONEY-CORLEY MUSCULOSKELETAL THERAPISTS. It works well because not only can we fit saddles, but we can help correct any problems the horse or rider may have and if we can’t, we can refer you to other equine or human professionals so that we can work as a “team”. Let’s be honest a lot of back issues can be from the bit of kit between horse & rider, so it helps that we have an in depth understanding of the equine anatomy.
We are AHPR Veterinary approved therapists & we can carry out therapy under the request of your vet & therapy under the requests of your GP.
We are REGISTERED on the EQUINE FITTERS COUNCIL of APPROVED, QUALIFIED & INSURED SADDLE FITTERS. We carry over 400+ 2nd hand saddles at any one time so we have absolutely NO bias to any brand at all. This also helps when people don’t have the budget for a new saddle (although we have accounts to most brands if that’s what is required by our customers too, but many people are financially struggling at the moment and that doesn’t mean their equine should suffer or go without! So…….if we can help by lowering the budget, we will! ) 😃
We are NOT purely saddle sales people, but we do stock great saddles IF they are really needed at great prices as well as available to help treat you & your equine or dog 🐕 and we have treated other weird & wonderful animals when needed too - 🐸 🦎 🐍 🐰 🐹 🐄 🐷
You do not have to simply be SMS Qualified to be a “QUALIFIED SADDLE FITTER”. BUT…….. You DO need to be qualified & approved to be on THE REGISTER which has been created for the publics peace of mind as we are all regulated by them. SMS qualified fitters are also fantastic and we work alongside many great SMS fitters, their training & establishment is long standing & traditional but please bear in mind that not everyone wants to just sell & fit saddles & they do not HAVE to choose the SMS route to become qualified to practice. I’m sure even the SMS will agree that the main priority is that the training providers that are licensed by The Equine Fitters Directory hold the gold standards to qualify their students to the highest level of the trade they possibly can. There are many options, all of which are of superior standard & above all are committed to the benefit of the equine! So, for example, if you chose to become a therapist first & foremost & then chose to enhance your career by becoming a qualified saddle fitter, you may not want to shadow a pure saddle fitter for an extended period of time which could then restrict your availability to treat your current clients. So other options are available. Whatever an individual chooses, providing the course meets the gold standards required- does it matter? What matters is the education, care & continued development & knowledge of human & equine welfare 🤠 🐎
The main priority is to educate the public that there is, in fact, a publicly available regulatory body where anyone who wishes to practice saddle fitting can be on as either fully qualified or other independent saddle fitters who hold relevant knowledge & qualifications can be on their alternative list. The public can check this list at any time to see who is qualified.
We are on that register because WE CARE.
We CARE about you and we CARE about your horse.
So, BEFORE you try to make out that a small, long standing business is unqualified- ask the question, seek the knowledge BEFORE you post incorrect information.
