Almost Home Dog Rescue

26/10/2026

So today marks a very special day for us at Almost Home ….. Today is Day 1 of our kennel build 🙌

We aim and hope that if all goes to plan and ‘Dog willing’ 😁 we will be taking dogs into the kennels by the summer of next year.
We have funds to start the groundworks which have started today and will be applying for grants and fundraising for the actual kennels over the next few months. We hope to be able to announce that we have secured funding by the Spring 🌼🤞
We’ll keep you posted!!
In the meantime we thank our fosterers for their utter devotion to our cause and for you all for your ongoing support 🙏🐶🐕🐾

Everyone meet our next poundie …. Winnie!💔

This girl was found in a sorry state and taken in to the pound. Sadly no one came forward to claim her, as expected.💔

Thankfully we did have a foster home ready to welcome her with open arms and she’s adored every minute of being spoilt so far!🫶🏻

Thai girl has clearly been used for breeding and not had the best care. She is around 4/5 years old and is so sweet. Understandably she can be a little shy to start but quickly comes around!❤️‍🩹

Winnie is in foster with multiple other dogs without an issue. She is enjoying having her freedom and plenty of good food!🥰

At the vets, she was a good girl. Where she passed a full heathcheck, has been flead, wormed, vaccinations and will be spayed when ready. She has a lack of fur currently which is believe to be due to bad diet and dirty living conditions! Nothing a bit of TLC won’t sort!✔️

Please share this lovely lady so she can finally have the life she deserves!🏡.

Everyone meet our next poundie … Lenny!💔

Lenny was stray who we suspect was dumped after they have had finished using him as stud dog / cash cow !💔

This lad hasn’t seen much of the world but is adapting well and taking everything in his stride. He can be shy with men when he first meets them but does warm up to them. He binds very quickly with women.❤️‍🩹

Lenny is currently in foster with another dog and is also good with dogs outside the home. He loves his walks and travels well in the car.🫶🏻

At the vets, he was superstar and took it all in his stride! He has now started his vaccinations, been flead, wormed and booked in to be neutered. He is nearly 4 years old.✔️

Please share this little gent so he can find his ‘ best life ‘!🏡

Everyone meet our next resident … Bella!💔❤️‍🩹

Bella originally came in to our care from the pound in an awful state mentally and psychically in 2023! She was one of the most petrified dogs who we have ever had in as well as being one of the most underweight!💔

After getting her used to a few volunteers and walking on lead, we found her a foster home and then later on she stayed there. We are so sad that she now needs rehoming again due to a future change in their lifestyle.😔

Bella has come a long way but she is still be nervous around new people and dogs. However she adapts quickly around dogs she just needs time to adapt to people!❤️‍🩹

This girl is a typical lurcher in many ways, she adores her cuddles, food, zoomies and comfy beds! She’ll do anything for some cheese!🥰

Bella walks well on head collar as this gives her confidence, she is also pretty good with her recall too! Around dogs she adores dogs her size, bigger or other sighties. She is ok with small breeds but prefers medium upwards!🐶🐾

She needs time when adapting to trust new people and new environments but it doesn’t take much. Bella just needs confident doggy people and she’ll blossom. As always full behavioural back up is offered for life!🫶🏻✨

She has been great when going to places to visit including with a dog sitter. Where she mixes with range of dogs and loves her walks! After socialising, you’ll find her asleep on the sofa happily!🐾🐾

Bella has been mirco chipped, flead, wormed, vaccinated and spayed. She has no health issues. Bella is around 5 years old ✔️

This girl really needs a forever home, somewhere she can settle down for life! This has to be her final move!🏡

🫶🏼Forever foster sponsors🫶🏼

What’s a forever foster?🐶

Sometimes, dogs come in to our care that we think may be difficult to rehome, often because they are in their twilight years, or they have an existing medical condition. In these cases, Almost Home offers to cover medical expenses, in exchange for a loving home for them to spend their, hopefully many, remaining years.💜

We couldn't do this without the support of generous people like you!🩵

On the link below, you can meet our forever fosters and, if you wish to do so, sponsor them monthly to help with their bills; https://almosthome.dog/sponsor

Sadly, we are understandably seeing a lot of our monthly sponsors cancel, however you can sponsor anything from £1 per month upwards. Updates on our forever fosters can be seen in our Almost Home Dog Rescue ‘newslead’ news letter. Currently we have 16 forever fosters under Almost Home Dog Rescue care for life! ❤️‍🩹

Please share!😇

Autumn Pub Walk & Breakfast! 🐾

Sunday 8th November

What better way to kick off your Sunday than a stroll through our gorgeous local countryside?

Join us for a 5-mile circular pub walk! Here’s the plan for the morning:

☕ 9:30 AM: Meet at the pub for a hot tea or coffee and a bacon butty.

🥾 10:00 AM: We set off from Glasfryn, climbing into the surrounding hills, passing through the beautiful Gwysaney Estate, and descending into Sychdyn.

🍽️ 12:00 PM: Back at base just in time for a well-deserved Sunday lunch!

Four-legged friends are very welcome (and two-legged walkers too, of course!). 🐕

The walk is completely free to join! All we ask is that you let us know you’re coming so book your spot online. Breakfast spaces are limited—once they’re gone, they’re gone! (Don’t worry, even if breakfast is full, you’re still more than welcome to join us for the walk itself).

If you have some spare change, we’d love a donation on the day to support our chosen charity, Almost Home Dog Rescue. 💛

We’ve got our fingers crossed for dry weather, but putting on a trusty pair of wellies is definitely recommended!

Everyone meet our next poundie …. Rocco!💔

This lad was stray and no one came forward to claim him. Sadly we aren’t surprised due to the state of him! Rocco is 3 years old and a lurcher who has clearly had a hard time so far in life. Yet is so sweet and gentle, you’d never know! ❤️‍🩹

Sadly this lad was adopted a year ago an and has now come back to due family’s circumstances changing.😔

This lad loves nothing more than sleeping by the fire with a full belly of food. He is great with humans of all ages and he’s is housetrained.✔️

Rocco walks well on lead using his head collar, travels well and is happy to be handled. He’s been great around the house and loves visitors! He would make a great family addition. 🏡

He’s been vaccinated, flead, wormed and mirco chipped. Rocco is neutered too. Thankfully his scars have all healed well and his skin is looking good. When he first arrived last year form the pound he was so skinny and in need a lot of TLC!😔

Rocco is good around dogs when he’s off lead and he has been going to regular socialisation groups with a wide range of dogs. When on lead he can get excited when he’s sees them but he is a lurcher after all!😂He just wants to meet everyone!🥰

Please share this amazing gent so can find his forever humans who will care and love him for the rest of his life!🏡
