🚌 The Playschool Fun Buses are providing a dog-friendly shuttle tomorrow for those who don’t want to do the full walk.

🚶 We will be based at Avening Social Club, but if you find that you or your dog are unable to go on, we can come get you and return you to Minch Common.

📞 Simply turn up at the social club, find a marshal along the route and ask them to call for us, or - if desperate - text Sharyn and she will pass it on!

🥤 We will be providing dog drinking water and dog treats at Avening Social Club, and have a canine first aider to help with any issues.

🐾 We can’t wait to see lots of happy Playschool faces stopping by for a drink and a cuddle.

🐾 Playschool Walks 🐾

Lots of people are asking about our monthly Playschool walks. Between March 1 and July 31, you must keep your dog on a short lead (max 2 metres) on Selsley Common to protect declining populations of ground-nesting birds, such as the skylark and meadow pipit, which lay their eggs directly on the grass.

Our usual summer option of Haresfield Beacon has also had the same rule applied, and inviting 30 dogs on a walk on short leads wouldn’t be the same carefree fun! If anyone has any suggestions of good places where dogs can safely be off-lead, do let us know.

In the meantime, tomorrow - Sunday 7 June - we will be joining in the Horsfall House walk, starting at HH in Minchinhampton, with rare access through Gatcombe Park Wood and Avening Court which have been opened exclusively with kind permission of the owners.

You can register at HH on the day, with all donations going towards this amazing local charity 🐾

For those unable to do the full walk next Sunday, the Horsfall House bus is running a shuttle service taking humans back up the hill!

As dogs aren’t allowed in the HH bus, Jovie will be on standby in a Playschool Fun Bus to be dog taxi.

We will be parked up by Avening Social Club with drinking water for your dogs.

We hope to see lots of you next Sunday for the Community Walk raising money for Horsfall House.

Start any time between 9:30 and 12:30 from Horsfall House. Head to the HH website Events page for registration.

🌳 The circular route starts at Minchinhampton Library and winds through some of the most beautiful countryside in the area and finishes at Horsfall House 🌲

The route includes rare public access to Gatcombe Park Wood and Avening Court opened exclusively for the event with the kind permission of their owners.

Full route:
Minchinhampton → Gatcombe Wood → Avening Court → Avening Social Club → Weighbridge Inn → Box Woods → Horsfall House.

For those who prefer a shorter walking distance, an alternative five-mile return route is available after Avening Court, plus there is a mini bus service from Avening Social Club to Horsfall House for humans and dogs who don’t want to do the full route.
