Wendy Witch

Wendy Witch Narrowboat Tarot Readings. Handfasting & Pagan Weddings. Baby Naming Ceremonies. Hello. I'm Wendy. I'm a White Witch and Celebrant. I have been pagan all my life.

My beliefs and skills have been passed down through generations and I'm proud of my heritage. I live aboard Narrowboat Merly B with my husband and a mad dog. We chug up and down the Grand Union Canal conducting Pagan Ceremonies, creating Magic Spells and giving Tarot readings. I enjoy reading, gardening (on the roof), and walking the countryside towpaths.

If you are in the Milton Keynes area,

give me a call to find out where I am moored. I am always happy to put the kettle on, especially if you bring cake.

Lunar Eclipse Magic Wishing Spell

Tomorrow night many of us will be treated to an eclipse of the moon. A lunar eclipse can only occur during the night of a full moon. This means you will be working with full moon energy.

The eclipse does not have to be visible for you to work magic, but hopefully the skies will remain clear. The full moon is powerful so be careful what you wish for!

Find a open and calm place where you can see the moon.

Sit down and place some candles in front of you, whatever colour you like. Light the candles.

Sit quietly and concentrate on the flames in front of you and the moon beyond. Meditate if you like.

Form your wish in your mind, try to visualise it as clearly as you can. Now say aloud,

"In this night and in this hour, I call the Gods and Goddesses of the moon. Hear my words and hear my wish. I call the Gods and Goddesses of the moon. Make my wish come true. So mote it be and blessed, be."

Now bow (or curtsey!) to the moon and thank the gods and goddesses. S***f the candles out.

Lunar Eclipse

A poem by Kathryn Worth (1898–1969)

Outside your shadow, I can go
A free moon in a crystal arc;
Circling at dusk with lunar cold
Above, below, your cone of dark.
Free in the ether I can pass
Made unaware of your perfection
Till outward-reaching like a shaft
Your shade encounters my direction.
Then always, as at startled first,
I pause to watch the moment come:
To feel your darkening image creep
Over the sky, across my face.
Let but your shadow touch this rim
And all my heart is in eclipse.

Good night. Sweet dreams xx

🔴 Blood Moon ~ Lunar Eclipse Folklore 🔴

Sunday's Lunar Eclipse will be visible across many parts of the World. (See previous post for details.)

The Egyptians saw the eclipse as a sow swallowing the moon. Other cultures view the eclipse as the moon being swallowed by other animals, such as a jaguar in Mayan tradition, or a three legged toad in China.

Some societies thought it was a demon swallowing the moon, and that they could chase it away by throwing stones and curses at it.

Similarly to the Mayans, the Incans believed that lunar eclipses occurred when a jaguar would eat the moon, which is why a blood moon looks red. The Incans also believed that once the jaguar finished eating the moon, it could come down and devour all the animals on Earth, so they would take spears and shout at the moon to keep it away.

The Greeks were ahead of their time when they said the Earth was round and used the shadow from the lunar eclipse as evidence.

Some Hindus believe in the importance of bathing in the Ganges River following an eclipse because it will help to achieve salvation.

The ancient Mesopotamians believed that a lunar eclipse was when the moon was being attacked by seven demons. This attack was more than just one on the moon, however, for they linked what happened in the sky with what happened on the land, and because the king of Mesopotamia represented the land, the seven demons were thought to be also attacking the king.

In order to prevent this attack on the king, the Mesopotamians made someone pretend to be the king so they would be attacked instead of the true king. After the lunar eclipse was over, the substitute king was made to disappear (possibly by poisoning).

In some Chinese cultures, people ring bells to prevent a dragon or other wild animals from biting the moon. In the nineteenth century, during a lunar eclipse, the Chinese navy fired its artillery because of this belief.

During the Zhou Dynasty in the Book of Songs, the sight of a red moon engulfed in darkness was believed to foreshadow famine or disease.

🌾🌕🌾 Full Corn Moon ~ Blood Moon 🌾🌕🌾

🌕 Sunday's Full Moon (7th Sept) is the Full Corn Moon, named by Native American tribes who harvest their corn at this time of year.

Celtic and Old English names are Wine Moon, Song Moon, and Barley Moon.

The Full Moon closest to the Autumn Equinox is called the Harvest Moon, and it is either in September or October. This year it's in October.

🔴 This Full Corn Moon will rise as a Bood Moon Lunar Eclipse.

In the UK the eclipse will begin while the Moon is still below the horizon but it will rise in almost total eclipse on Sunday evening at sunset (19.30) and will therefore still appear as a Blood Moon as it rises. Let's hope for clear skies!

In East Africa, the Middle East, most of Asia and western Australia you will be able to witness the eclipse from start to finish.

🌕 The Lunar Tarot 🌕

A busy day Tarot reading, it has been really lovely to see you all. This deck was popular with everyone today!

I love the ancient magic and wisdom of the moon. The lunar phases guide us through this ever changing world and this deck gives insight and clarity to the mysteries they hold.

Timely too, with the Full Moon approaching and a Lunar Eclipse.

These cards are beautifully illustrated. I like the colours of the Minor Arcana - vibrant swords, earthy pentacles, moody blue cups and fresh green wands full of potential. The Aces are particularly striking.

The Major Arcana is stunning. The Sun, The Star, Strength, The Empress......wonderful cards.

✨️🪶 Guardian Angel Spell For Children 🪶✨️

Back to school! If anyone is feeling anxious cast this spell either with them, for them, or for yourself.

This spell is perfect for children, as the Angel (which I believe is our own inner strength) protects against nightmares, bullying, lack of confidence and even teenage angst.

Cast this for your little ones to comfort them. It brings a sense of security, wellbeing & happiness.

Also very effective for grown ups! My daughter cast one when she was 18. She says it has kept her safe ever since. . .

You need;

a moonstone
a white candle
a white feather
a glass of water.

Light the candle and say,

'Loving spirit of guidance and protection, please be here as a beacon of strength. Let no threat or malice harm me.'

Place the moonstone in the water and say,

'With this sacred water of love and power let my Angel protect me and watch over me.'

Dip the feather in the water and use it to sprinkle some water over your or your child's head.

Blow out the candle and carry the moonstone at all times. Small children can then hold their 'magic moonstone' to give them confidence whenever they're feeling unsure.

🤎 Simple Cinnamon Spell 🤎

This spell is traditionally cast on the 1st day of the month, but you can cast it anytime.

Cinnamon brings abundance, prosperity, protection, and success. It helps us to tune in to our spirituality, and brings blessings of wealth, love and power.

If you wish, you can light a candle before casting your spell.

Step outside your front door and face your home. Place some cinnamon powder in your palm and gently blow the cinnamon into your home.

You can also bless a new business venture, a shop or workplace.

Say, "As this cinnamon blows so health, prosperity, happiness and abundance will enter my home, negativity will leave."

💜❤️🧡 Narrowboat Tarot Readings 🧡❤️💜

I will be moored in Great Linford until 13th Sept.

Then I will be in Willen, Woolstone, Simpson, Bletchley, Stoke Hammond, Old Linslade and Leighton Buzzard, stopping in each place for two weeks.

On warm summery days I read outside on the towpath under the trees. The beautiful scenery makes fortune telling even more magical.

On rainy days my boat is warm and cosy and the readings are candlelit.

Readings last an hour. I'll put the kettle on.

See you soon! Wendy xx

Ceremonies With A Difference

If you want to mark a special occasion, but the traditional wedding or christening isn't for you, then why not consider a pagan ceremony? As a Celebrant and White Witch, I have spent many years conducting Handfasting Ceremonies (Pagan Weddings), Baby Naming Ceremonies, Home Blessings, Memorial Services, and Pagan Rituals

Please get in touch whether you want to book my services, or if you are just curious and want to find out more. I am always happy to explain, so give me a call and I'll put the kettle on.

As well as my ceremonial work, I make a range of Magic Spells which you can buy for yourself or as a beautiful and personal gift.

If you are in the Milton Keynes area, you can also visit me for a Tarot reading aboard my narrow boat, or buy something from my charity plant stall, or just stop for a natter.
