As a registered veterinary nurse, certain medical procedures can be
delegated to them by a veterinary surgeon under Schedule 3 of the
Veterinary Surgeons Act. These procedures include:

💉Administering animal medications, prescribed by a vet, through a needle
and syringe, either into a muscle (intramuscular injection), vein (intravenous
injection), or under the skin (subcutaneous injection). This can be done for
pain relief, sedation, or other necessary treatments.

🩹Cleaning and dressing wounds appropriately. If an animal has a wound,
a veterinary nurse may provide proper care by cleaning or flushing it and
applying a sterile dressing to protect it from further contamination.

🤕Removing sutures after an animal has had surgery or an injury requiring
stitches. A veterinary nurse may carefully cut the stitches and remove them
from the skin, after ensuring the wound has healed properly.

And this is just the beginning! Stay tuned for Part 2

Summer brings sunny days and outdoor adventures for our feline friends!
🌞🐱While your cat enjoys lounging in the garden, it's essential to provide a safe and enjoyable environment. Here are some tips:

🐱Check for Shade: Ensure your garden has shaded areas where your cat can retreat from the sun's heat. Consider planting trees or installing umbrellas or awnings to create cool spots.
🐱Safe Plants: Be mindful of the plants in your garden, as some can be toxic to cats if ingested.
🐱Water Source: Place a shallow water bowl or fountain in the garden to keep your cat hydrated during outdoor excursions.
🐱Fence Security: If your garden is enclosed by a fence, regularly inspect it for any gaps or loose areas where your cat could escape. Ensure the fence is cat-proof to prevent accidental escapes.
🐱Supervised Play: While your cat may enjoy exploring the garden independently, always supervise outdoor time to ensure their safety. Keep an eye out for potential hazards and intervene if necessary.

With these tips, you can create a cat-friendly garden where your furry friend
can enjoy the summer sunshine safely!🌿🐱

While the air temperature might seem bearable, remember that the pavement can be scorching hot for our furry friends' paws 🔥

⚠️If you can't hold the back of your hand to the pavement for 5-7 seconds, it's too hot for your dog's delicate paws.

Protecting your pet's paws is key during the summer months. Opt for walks during cooler times of the day and stick to grassy areas where possible. 🦮

⚠Recent news stories reminds us how serious dog bites can be, but also the amount of misinformation and prejudice.

Any dog can bite, regardless of breed, size, age, or how loving they usually are. Most bites don’t come “out of nowhere”. Dogs often show signs that they’re scared, overwhelmed, or uncomfortable. So here are the common warning signs to watch out for:
🚩Stiff body posture or freezing
🚩Turning their head away and showing the whites of the eyes
🚩Lip licking or yawning when not tired
🚩Growling, snapping, or barking
🚩Trying to move away or hide
There’s simple ways to reduce risk and help a scared dog when they start showing the subtler signs of being uncomfortable.
🐶Give dogs space, especially when eating, sleeping, or unwell
🐶Avoid approaching unfamiliar dogs without the owner’s permission
🐶Respect when a dog shows they need distance

🚸Always supervise children around dogs
🚸Teach children not to hug dogs or put their faces close

This isn’t about finger pointing to the breed of dog or the owner, it’s about understanding dog behaviour, building safer interactions, and protecting everyone.

✅It includes details such as your pet’s microchip number and rabies vaccination
✅It’s completed and signed by an Official Veterinarian
✅It’s usually issued shortly before you travel

📅You’ll need to contact your vet in advance so an appointment can be arranged within the required timeframe.

🌏Always check the entry requirements for your destination country before booking travel.
