Beautiful skies here for Christmas Eve. All the pets staying with us over the festive period are here and everyone is settled in well.

I just wanted to thank so many customers for being so generous with gifts. I think we’ve enough chocolate to last until next Christmas!

There will always be someone on duty over the next 2 days but only urgent calls/text/emails will be responded to.

New faces to join the team. Today Holly and Eve met for the first time.

The whole rota has now changed so that instead of full days the staff will change over at mid day. This is something we’ve wanted to to for years but haven’t had to opportunity as it didn’t suit the staff. Even Owen told me he enjoyed his first lie in for a long time yesterday!

Holly and Eve have had a tremendous start and it’s lovely having some fresh energy about the place.

That’s the builders just about finished their work. They hadn’t had the chance to work in severe wind so they decided to tidy up and pressure washed everything this morning!

The roofing should hopefully be arriving this week so the end is in sight.

Anyone that has been to the kennels over the last few weeks will know we’ve been having some upgrades. It’s difficult to find the perfect time when we’re so busy most of the year. Still a couple more days to go but I want to thank the lads from Ollie Mart Building services for putting up with dogs barking at them, heavy snow, freezing temperatures and plenty of rain. It’s really starting to come together and we’re delighted.

Deposits.

Just a quick note to thank all our customers for working with us regarding deposits. I think this half term must be the first test since introducing the policy at the end of last summer as most bookings were already made for the other school holidays in between. I know there has been some teething problems but this is the first school holiday period in my time of running Upperwood that every booking has been accounted for and every pet has turned up that we’ve expected.

I think we can safely say deposits for bookings will be staying. We just now need to work on customers paying their invoices promptly and without reminders!!

Road closure from Monday 15th

I noticed today that from Monday the council plan to be working on Sydnope hill. In the past people have always been allowed access to the kennels but delays are to be expected.

Reading this the work will be both above and below us which isn’t ideal!
