As we anticipate snowfall tonight and throughout the coming week, we would like to take this opportunity to remind motorists of several key considerations to ensure their safety, as well as the safety of others, during this period.

In the event of snow in the High Peak, we often receive a significant number of calls from drivers who have opted to travel on remote roads known for their treacherous weather conditions, such as ice and snow. We strongly encourage motorists to consider alternative routes that, while potentially longer, are generally flatter, more likely to be treated with grit and safer for travel.

The following roads are particularly advisable to avoid during snowfall, as they frequently lead to emergency calls each year:

- A54 Cat and Fiddle
- A53 Leek Road
- Goyt Valley, Buxton
- Winnats Pass, Castleton
- A57 Snake Pass
- A628 Woodhead Pass
- A624 Chinley to Glossop

Should you find yourself stranded due to snow or ice, please be aware that assistance may be limited. Therefore, we urge you to prioritise safety by carefully considering your journey before setting out.
