Tarnedge Labradors

Tarnedge Labradors Here at Tarnedge we focus on breeding healthy, good-natured, athletic dogs suitable as working dogs, Welcome to Tarnedge Labradors.

I have been training, working and breeding Labradors for over 40 years. I have been a Kennel Club Assured Breeder ever since the scheme first began in 2004 and I now have current, UKAS accredited approval. I am also a member of the Three Ridings Labrador Club, the Northumberland and Durham Labrador Retriever Club, the Golden Retriever Club of Northumbria and the Yorkshire Retriever Field Trial Soc

iety. All our dogs and bi***es are bred from Field Trial Champion and Winning stock and mostly go back to my foundation bitch who was by Field Trial Champion Pocklington Glen out of a bitch by Field Trial Champion Drakeshead Tinker. We are now testing all our dogs which we plan to breed from for PRA (Progressive Retinal Atrophy - which causes blindness); CNM (Centronuclear Myopathy - which causes muscle wastage and in the worst case scenario, for the dog to have to be put to sleep); EIC (Exercise Induced Collapse - which causes the dog to collapse after exercise) and SD2 (Skeletal Dysplasia 2 which causes dwarfism - the dog's legs simply stop growing). We also have our dogs X-rayed for Hip and Elbow dysplasia and we have their eyes tested every year. We only breed from dogs with low hip and elbow scores and with clear eye tests and we now have had six dogs with perfect (0/0) hip-scores. We have 16 working Labs at present ranging from Katie, who is ten, down to this year's youngsters: Tarnedge Jaina and Tarnedge Peregrine who are both black-carrying-chocolate bitch pups, by Levenghyl Sky Walker and FT Champion Waterford Harris of Featherfly; and little Tarnedge Swordsman - a chocolate dog puppy whose sire is by FTCh Brackenbird Minnow and whose dam is by FTCh Pocklea Adder. We have great hopes for this little chap that he might take over as our next chocolate stud dog - but he will have to pass his health tests and jump through a lot of hoops before that happens!

Due to a backword, we very unexpectedly have this little man without a new postcode.
He is by Cardueae Dianthus of Tarnedge out of Flynn's daughter, Tarnedge Flick.

He's vet-checked, really well-socialised, from health-tested parents, and he has a fabulous temperament and an excellent pedigree.

DM me for further details.

What a great weekend for Tarnedge!

On Saturday, we took Rebel, Joey, Darcey and Poppy for their annual eye test and they all passed! 😊😊

And yesterday, at the GRCN Working Test at Brickyard Wood, good old Tarnedge Flynn won the Veteran Test, his granddaughter, Tarnedge Ruby Red won the Puppy Test with her owner, Jane Burniston, and last, but not least, Cardueae Dianthus of Tarnedge got a very creditable third out of a class of thirty novice dogs. 🏆🏆

Huge thanks to Sandra Richardson and her GRCN team for all their hard work this year, making these Working Tests happen. 🙏🙏

Just Darcey.
Tarnedge Fair Isle after winning the Novice Working Test at Derwent Grange Farm.

Has your Tarnedge Dog done something amazing that you would like to share with us?
it doesn't need to be a win in a competition, it can be anything that you're really proud of. 😊🥰

One for the family album!
Tarnedge Fair Isle (Darcey) with her grandsire, FTCh Tarnedge Flynn. They came first in the Novice and third in the Veteran respectively at the NDLRC Working Test yesterday.

So proud of them both.

Darcey's dam is my grandson's very talented working bitch, Tarnedge Little Tiger and her sire is FTCh Turpingreen Bohol.

Darcey (Tarnedge Fair Isle).
After four weeks off with being in season, little Darcey still came up trumps with a C of M in the Novice at Allensford yesterday.
She was beaten by her cousin Rebel but she's now planning her revenge for when they next go head to head!

Another grand day out for young Rebel at Allensford yesterday (Tarnedge Run Riot).
The ground was difficult, the tests were tricky and there were 28 dogs running, so I was over the moon when he came second.
Well done, little man.

Delighted to announce that Ruby (Tarnedge Flick) is now confirmed in pup to Joey (Cardueae Dianthus of Tarnedge).
The puppies will be black and chocolate. They are due around the 10th June and will be ready to leave in August.

Both parents are friendly, biddable and fully health-tested. They are very capable working dogs but they are also loyal and gentle companions.

Please pm me for further details.
