🐎 Straight from the Horsford’s mouth 🐎
It’s been an exciting week with the arrival of a couple of store horses bought at 🐴
Gaia De Maine (Kapgarde x Gamora) ticked every box for us and was our pick of the entire sale, so we were delighted to have taken her home with us. She has a temperament to die for, nothing fazes her, and she showed the utmost professionalism from beginning to end of her time at the sale. Her movements are exceptional, very correct in her conformation and has the right mental attitude to become a huge asset to our yard going forward.
Our Vadamos Gelding (Vadamos x Have Another One) was bought later on in the sale and is sure to catch the eye of most when he makes his racecourse debut. Looking almost black, with flecks of grey throughout, he’s a real looker that for a big horse is incredibly light on his feet and floats across the ground. Standing at 17 hands at the age of 3 and with growing still do, he has the size and scope to become a real force on the National Hunt scene in the coming seasons. Jade, my wife, has already staked her claim on making him her ride for next season, but she will have to be prepared to fight her way to the front of an ever growing queue!
The future is bright with these two Doncaster acquisitions and we can’t wait to see what their futures hold. Being 3 year olds they won’t be rushed and will be given all the patience they require. We are fortunate that Rupert and Jenny Martin are of the same mindset and enable their stock to reach their full potential with the time they are prepared to give them. At the earliest, they will be seen on the track in the spring of next year, although we wouldn’t be worried if that were into the season following after a second summer on their back.
The Vadamos gelding is currently without a racing name. His sire is Vadamos and his dam, Have Another One. For you witty folk out there that fancy themselves in naming racehorses, we welcome any suggestions. Who knows, you may be naming a superstar of the future! ✨
