🚨 🚨 HOT WEATHER ALERT: If it’s too hot for your hand, it’s too hot for their paws! 🚨 🐾
With the temperatures rising, our four-legged friends need a little extra help staying safe and cool. Dogs don’t sweat like we do—they rely mostly on panting to cool down, and they can overheat much faster than you think!
Here is your quick warm-weather checklist to keep your pups safe:
🌅 Walk at Dawn or Dusk: Avoid the midday heat completely. Stick to early mornings or late evenings when the air and ground have cooled down.
✋ The 5-Second Tarmac Test: Place the back of your hand on the pavement for 5 seconds. If it’s too hot to hold it there comfortably, it will burn your dog’s paw pads. Stick to the grass or stay inside!
🛑 Skip the Midday Walk: A missed walk won’t hurt them, but heatstroke can be fatal. Swap an afternoon walk for some fun indoor brain games or puzzle toys instead.
💧 Hydration Station: Keep fresh, cool water accessible at all times. Drop a few ice cubes in their bowl to keep it refreshing!
🚗 NEVER Leave Them in Cars: Not even for a “quick two minutes,” and not even with the windows cracked. Temperatures inside a car can skyrocket to dangerous levels in moments.

Heavy, non-stop panting (or pulling back the corners of the mouth to pant harder)
Excessive drooling or thick saliva
Bright red, dark pink, or purple gums
Lethargy, weakness, or stumbling/wobbliness
