I started on the yard at my house sit before 7am this morning. It’s now 7:30pm and I’m out grazing Bailey, who’s on box rest following surgery 💉 It’s been a weird day with some walks cancelled with the heat 🥵 but still incredibly busy with yards, home visits for 🐈⬛ 🐶 and various other animals 🐟🦉🦅🐓🐐🐑🦦(no ferret emoji 😆)and the walks I did manage to squeeze in before the temperature rose. This isn’t a sob story by any means, it’s just a way of life. I had a fabulous holiday last week, and I’m all too aware that my next one is only a matter of a few weeks away, and as much as I can’t wait, I do realise it impacts on my regulars when I’m not here. I know I’m not the only walker who feels genuine guilt when I take time off 🙈 However, this isn’t a 9-5 job, it’s many early starts and late finishes, not to mention all the evenings, overnights, and weekends that are booked up solidly with work. I’m definitely learning to take more time for myself, and although I do appreciate the inconvenience it causes when I’m away, I am getting better at not apologising for it anymore.
I’m not going to lie though, it was really lovely to hear “I’m soooo glad you’re back” multiple times this week, and have a bottle of bubbles left for me by one super duper regular 🤩🍾 It’s good to get away, but it is also always good to come home 🥰
