We are delighted to announce the launch of our brand new ULTIMATE DENTAL PLAN!!! 🦷🪥😁🐶🐕

The Problem:

Dental disease is extremely common and poses a serious risk to health and welfare. Signs of dental disease begin with smelly breath, followed by sore and inflamed gums, the progressive accumulation of tartar, then wobbly and rotten teeth in more advanced cases. It is painful. Dogs suffer in silence and will not make a fuss. Often they will appear to eat quite normally, effectively masking any signs of discomfort and leaving their owners completely unaware.
It causes infection that spreads through the bloodstream to the internal organs adversely affecting their function and reducing their life expectancy. The biomatrix of plaque forms constantly throughout each and every day. Dogs need similar dental care and hygiene management to humans.

The Solution:

It is vitally important to proactively prevent dental disease from developing in the first place. Serious problems in later life can be avoided by committing to and investing in a well-structured hygiene management strategy from a young age.

We recommend:

Daily toothbrushing with enzymatic toothpaste.
Frequent dental examinations.
Regular deep cleaning with descale and polish procedures performed thoroughly under general anaesthesia.
Annual full-mouth X-ray examinations to identify any pathology associated with the roots beneath the surface of the gums.
Extraction of unsalvageable teeth that are causing pain and infection.

Most pet insurance companies exclude dental disease from their cover, regarding it as preventative healthcare. We have designed the Ultimate Dental Plan to make preventative dental healthcare as accessible and affordable as possible.
Please note this is not insurance.

What's included:

Enzymatic toothpaste and toothbrush kits
Unlimited dental examination consultations
Unlimited ultrasonic descale and polish under general anaesthesia
Blood tests to assess liver and kidney function prior to general anaesthesia
Annual full-mouth digital dental X-ray examinations
Only £30.00 per month.

Please note that surgical extraction of unsalvageable teeth will be performed at a later date at additional cost.

Don't wait until it's too late - join today.

Big congratulations to Natalia! 🍾🙌🏻🐴

Natalia has recently become a Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (RCVS) Advanced Practitioner in Equine Practice. 🩺

The purpose of the list of Advanced Practitioners is to provide a clear indication to the profession and the public of those veterinary surgeons who have been accredited at postgraduate certificate level by the RCVS, by virtue of having demonstrated knowledge and experience in a particular area of veterinary practice.

Natalia has also just finished the certificate modules on Equine Internal Medicine and will be now working towards gaining the RCVS Advanced Practitioner status in this area as well. 🐎

Here she is with one of her most recent patients, ‘Whin’ 🐴🩵

We would like to bring to horse owners attention an excellent and free online risk assessment calculator designed to help manage worm 🪱 infections in horse populations. We would recommend using the tool at least three monthly and would be delighted to advise if any concerns or queries are raised. This is VERY important in our ongoing battle to AVOID
1. Clinical disease due to worms
2. resistance that would lead to ineffective treatments in the future
3. unnecessary environmental contamination with wormers
4. unnecessary cost of dewormers that are often not required.

Keeping your horse safe from worms means assessing their risk of infection to guide the next steps in your management plan

This is “Jeff” - a local regular social visitor to us!

He finds our reception and waiting area so stress free and relaxing that he’ll often be waiting at our automatic doors for someone to open them and he will then wait very patiently to be seen (& for lots of attention) 🐈‍⬛😻

John, our Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons recognised Advanced Practitioner in Equine Dentistry, was pleased to give some of the equine students at Moulton College a tutorial on equine dentistry today.

They had some great questions and saw some routine cases plus a lovely horse having his checkup after we gave him some fillings a few months ago. The students could see everything in great detail due to our fantastic oroscope (endoscope designed especially for use in the mouth) which is also great for use every day with our dental cases. 🦷🐴

Bit related injuries are common. One study found as many as 52% of horses in Finland that had just completed the cross country phase at an event had bit induced injuries! 🐴

Our passion is preventative dental care and we are very pleased to have a Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons recognised Advanced Veterinary Practitioner in Equine Dentistry, John Abbott in our team. 🦷

It is a good idea to have your bridle available at one of his dental checks where we are happy to include an assessment of bit fit and suitability within our routine preventative dental check and treatment. 🐴🩺

Our head nurse, Zoe, visited a local school to show what it means to work at a veterinary practice. 💚

She discussed lots of topics, including which foods are dangerous to dogs, microchipping and then they dressed up in theatre clothing! 🩺🧑🏻‍⚕️

We hope that Zoe has inspired some aspiring vets / vet nurses to pursue their dreams.. 🐶🐈‍⬛🐾
