Top Tips for Keeping Your Pet Happy and Safe This Halloween
🎃Ensure you walk your dog before it gets dark or consider engaging activities that can tire them out safely indoors, such as food toys, training sessions, or search games.
🎃Stick to your pets usual routine and prepare distractions to keep them content. Consider using a door or stair gate to separate your pet from the door if they are comfortable with this.
🎃It’s best to prevent your pet from greeting visitors, as trick-or-treaters are often unfamiliar children in costumes which can be confusing or frightening.
🎃If your pet is particularly anxious about visitors, consider placing a sign on your door that says, “Nervous pet. Please do not knock. Take treats from the box.” You can leave a box of sweets in your front garden for the children.
🎃Keep sweets and chocolate out of reach from your pets as these can be harmful if consumed.
🎃Ensure your pet has a comfortable and secure space to retreat to if they feel anxious. This could be their bed or crate, situated away from windows and the front door.
