Attended Cremation

What Does an Attended Cremation Mean?

An attended cremation gives you the opportunity to be present and involved in your pet’s final journey, allowing you to say goodbye in a personal and meaningful way.

To ensure this experience is as respectful and peaceful as possible, attended cremations are available by pre-booked appointment only and take place at 9:00am. This is because the chamber must be completely cool before we can allow you to place your pet in yourself, should you wish to do so.

What to Expect

If your pet is already in our care, we will ask you to arrive by 9:00am. Your pet will be prepared and ready for you to spend some final moments together in a calm and private setting.

If paw prints have not yet been taken, we can create these together as part of your farewell, should you wish.

At approximately 9:30am, when you feel ready, you will be given the choice to:

* Place your pet into the cremation chamber yourself, or
* Allow a member of our team to do this on your behalf.

There is no right or wrong decision. We will always be guided by your wishes and what feels most comfortable for you.

Once your pet is in the chamber, the door will be gently closed and the cremation settings prepared. You will then be asked if you would like to start your pet’s final journey yourself.

Afterwards, we will discuss a suitable time for you to return and collect your pet’s ashes.

A Gentle Goodbye

We understand how difficult this moment can be. Our attended cremation service is designed to give you the time, space, and support needed to say goodbye in your own way, without feeling rushed or pressured.

🐾 A very special full-circle moment 🐾

When we first opened our doors, a wonderful family called us after the loss of their beloved dog. We arrived at their home to find the whole family gathered together, heartbroken and saying goodbye.

If we’re honest, we were nervous. We’d only just started our journey and were still finding our feet. What followed was over an hour of chatting, sharing stories, and being welcomed with such kindness and understanding. They couldn’t have been more lovely to us.

Over the last 18 months, they’ve been some of our biggest supporters — liking our posts, sharing our stories, and cheering us on every step of the way.

Then, when my own beloved Harry passed away, they gave me the most beautiful handmade picture of him. There were definitely a few tears. 💔 It now sits proudly in our Rainbow Room, with Harry’s ashes safely behind it, so he’s with me every day. I’d like to think he’s helping guide each precious doggie over the Rainbow Bridge. 🌈🐾

This week, I received the most beautiful photo of their newest family member, Stanley. And what a lucky boy he is! He has truly landed on all four paws with a family overflowing with love.

Welcoming a new companion into your life doesn’t mean you’re forgetting those you’ve lost. It simply means you’re allowing your heart to make new memories while continuing to cherish the old ones.

I don’t need a special day to remember my beautiful Harry Boy. I think of him every single day.

But today, I’ll be lighting a candle for all pet parents who have lost their beloved companions.

The hole they leave in our hearts never truly goes away. We simply learn to build new memories around it. The love remains, and so do they.

What was once overwhelming sadness slowly becomes a place filled with cherished memories, funny moments, and gratitude for the time we shared.

Today, we remember them all. The paw prints they left on our lives will stay with us forever. 🐾

🐾 How Are Your Pet’s Ashes Returned? 🐾

If you’ve ever used my services, you’ll know that I run my crematorium by the book, following DEFRA and APPCC guidelines — and often going above and beyond them.

One thing you’ll never experience from me is pressure to purchase extras.

In fact, I don’t even mention urns unless you ask. Why? Because I believe grieving pet parents deserve time and space to make those decisions when they’re ready.

My role isn’t to upsell.

My role is to care for your beloved pet with dignity, respect, and love, and to provide a professional cremation service that you can trust.

So, how are your pet’s ashes returned?

As outlined within industry guidelines:

“Professional crematoria follow strict industry guidelines: the ashes must be secured inside a sealed, robust polythene bag, which is then placed into an outer product.”

This ensures your pet’s ashes are returned safely, securely, and respectfully.

Any keepsakes, urns, or memorial options can always be considered later, in your own time and without pressure.

Because saying goodbye to a beloved companion is hard enough without feeling like you’re being sold to.

At Rainbow Bridge Pet Crematoria, we understand that losing a beloved pet doesn’t always happen during office hours. That’s why we’re committed to being available when you need us most.

📍 Visitors are welcome by appointment:
• Monday – Friday: 9am – 5pm
• Saturday: 9am – 1pm

Although our open hours are limited, you can still call us outside these times. We offer an out-of-hours collection service for just £25 within 10 miles (additional mileage charges apply).

🐾 Collections within 10 miles are FREE during our opening hours.
🐾 Paw prints and fur clippings are included at no extra cost.
🐾 Advice and conversations about end-of-life arrangements are always free.

If your animal companion was your safe place, losing them can feel like your whole world has shifted. The grief can feel incredibly lonely, especially when others don’t fully understand the bond you shared.

But you are not alone.

This kind of loss is deeply real and deeply painful. Your companion was there through your hardest days, offering comfort, love and loyalty without question.

They were part of your healing, your routine, your heart. And although they may no longer be beside you physically, the love they gave you stays with you always — in your memories, in your strength, and in the person they helped you become.

Things that may help while grieving your animal companion 🤍

• Let yourself feel whatever comes up without judgement
• Light a candle, write them a letter, or create a small ritual in their memory
• Journal your thoughts, memories and emotions
• Speak with a therapist or someone who understands pet loss
• Connect with others who have experienced similar grief
• Create something meaningful in their honour
• Imagine them beside you when you need comfort
• Spend time in nature or around other animals when it feels right

Healing takes time, and there is no “right” way to grieve.
