It’s with a very heavy heart that we share the news that our dog daycare service will be closing at the end of September, with the final day being Tuesday 30th September.
After over 5 amazing years of providing care, proudly holding a 5-star licence from Mansfield District Council, this has been one of the hardest decisions we’ve had to make.
In those 5 years we’ve had the pleasure of welcoming over 750 dogs into daycare. Amazingly, 14 of those still attend every week today, having joined us right back in the very first weeks of opening. It’s been a true privilege to care for every single one of them.
It really has been some journey – we opened just one month before the first Covid-19 lockdown. From the chaos of navigating a pandemic and recession, to the unique challenge of figuring out how to hand over dogs while complying with social distancing rules… it’s been an experience like no other.
But through all of that, it’s been nothing short of wonderful. Not only has it been a pleasure to care for and get to know so many dogs, it’s also been lovely getting to know their owners too – with many we are honoured to now call friends.
The last five years have brought joy, tears, experiences and learning. And although daycare hasn’t been a success from a financial point of view, we are so proud that it has been a success in what matters most: providing the very best care. We sincerely hope you would agree.
Unfortunately, despite our best efforts, daycare is no longer financially viable for us to continue offering. Rising costs mean that we would either need to keep increasing prices or cut corners – and neither of those options align with our values. We strongly believe dogs deserve the very best care, and we are not prepared to compromise on that.
Bookings will continue as usual throughout September. However, any bookings beyond the closure date will be cancelled, and if payment has already been made, a refund will be automatically processed. We appreciate this will be incredibly disappointing news for many of you and we understand that arranging alternative care arrangements will be a concern, and we will certainly do our best to support and advise where possible.
For those who will be seeking a commercial style daycare setting like ourselves, we would suggest possibly contacting K9 Playtime who are based in Blidworth, or there’s also FTK9 or Little Paws Forest View, both in Kirkby-In-Ashfield and Enchanted Paws near Sherwood Forest to suggest a couple of other alternative options.
We want to say a huge thank you to all of our daycare customers past and present. Thank you for your support, your loyalty, and most importantly, for trusting us with the care of your beloved dogs.
We’d also like to take this opportunity to thank our amazing staff, who are equally as gutted as we are about this closure. Their dedication and love for the dogs has been second to none, and we couldn’t be prouder of the care they’ve given every single day.
But please know – this is not the end of Mansfield Canine Centre.
