Bonfire night is fast approaching. Hopefully you have already started getting things in place if your dog is anxious about fireworks. If not there’s still time.

Something to remember is you cannot reinforce fear by comforting your dog. By being supportive she gently consoling your dog, you won’t make their fear worse. Repeat by gently consoling your dog you WILL NOT make their fear worse.

So make that comfy den for your dog. Go comfort them in there. Snuggle up on the sofa together. Or your bed, you cannot make them feel any more fear than they are. In fact you might just help them feel safe.

Be calm and controlled yourself. Be the support your dog would like.

My FB feed is filling up with vets and rescues who have fit, healthy dogs they can’t get back home.

Why??? Aren’t they chipped I hear you cry?!!

Get your details updated. I know it can cost but get it done!!! You’ve done half the work, now do the rest of the job. Heart breaking to think these young dogs can’t get back home. Plus it’s firework season shortly. Loud noises can scare dogs, so have those details updated. Act on that love.
