☀️ WET THEN VET – Hot Weather Pet Safety Reminder ☀️

With temperatures soaring today, please keep your furry friends safe:
🐾 Avoid walking dogs during the hottest part of the day
🐾 Keep them cool indoors with plenty of fresh water

If your dog shows signs of heatstroke such as: heavy panting with tongue fully out, bright red gums, collapse, excessive drooling, diarrhoea... act FAST:
💧 Cool them immediately with cold water to bring their body temperature down quickly
🚗 If going to the vet, cool your car first with the air con on full
⚠️ Do NOT wrap them in a wet towel or sq**rt lemon juice in their mouth, these can make things worse

Heatstroke can cause delayed internal organ damage, so even if your dog seems better, get them checked by a vet immediately.

Remember: WET them, then VET them. 🐶💦

We are so excited to announce that a brand-new veterinary practice is opening right here in Salford Quays this month—and it’s going to be something really special!

Led by the amazing Sinéad, a passionate and highly skilled vet who works closely with the RCVS Council, this new practice is setting a whole new standard for animal care.

What makes it so special?
This practice is deeply rooted in ethical care and positive reinforcement—something we’re incredibly passionate about too. From the design of the space to the way consultations are run, everything has been thoughtfully planned with the emotional wellbeing of your dog in mind.

It’s going to be a game-changer for reactive dogs, nervous pups, and any four-legged friends who need that extra support during vet visits.

We’re absolutely thrilled to welcome Sinéad and her team to the community, and we can’t wait for you all to meet them!

I just want to talk about something real quick.

Who saw the lady on Britain’s Got Talent on Saturday night with her dog? This is exactly what proofing looks like in action.

At home, her dog probably nailed his piano playing and other musical tricks. But when it came to performing on a massive stage, with bright lights, a roaring audience, and an intense atmosphere—it all fell apart. Not because he didn’t know the behaviour, but because it hadn’t been proofed in that kind of environment.

And this is exactly what happens in everyday dog training.

You teach your dog to sit at home, and they do it perfectly. You ask for a sit in the garden, and they’re still spot on. But then you try on a busy street, at the park, or when waiting to cross the road—and suddenly, it’s like they’ve never heard the word before.

It’s not that they’re being stubborn or ignoring you. It’s that they’re simply not ready for that level of distraction yet.

Proofing is a crucial step in training—just because your dog can do a behaviour in one setting doesn’t mean they can do it anywhere. If you’re struggling to see results, this is probably why!
