Tuesday and we’re getting back into our usual routine!

We hope you’ve all had a lovely summer with the little ones. Now it’s back to reality — children heading back to school and nursery, and everyone settling back into their normal routines.

I’m now taking advance bookings for pet ultrasound scans and microchipping.

If you’ve had a successful mating, confirmation scans are usually carried out 28–35 days from the last mating to check whether your girl is in fact pregnant.

Booking in advance helps me enormously with managing appointments, but it also helps you avoid additional out-of-hours charges if I’m already fully booked during normal appointment times.

If you know you’ll be needing a scan or litter microchipping, please don’t leave it until the last minute. Send me a message and we can get you booked in.

🐾 A little something we’re going to be offering in the shop…

If you have a male dog who is prone to c**king his leg and scent marking, you’ll know how stressful it can be taking them into shops, especially when you’re worried they might wee on stock, displays or someone else’s belongings!

We’ve discovered these disposable male belly wraps, and they’re brilliant. They’re comfortable for the dog, highly absorbent and provide that extra bit of protection when you’re out and about.

They can also be really useful for older boys, dogs with bladder accidents, or dogs who may wet themselves for other reasons, my dog has seizures and wears these around the house.

🐶 So, if your boy is one of those who likes to c**k his leg everywhere, we’re going to have these available in the shop individually.

🐾 LOCAL PET PROFESSIONALS – WE’D LOVE TO HEAR FROM YOU! 🐾

We’re looking at developing our shop Audenshaw Pet Supplies into a little hub for local pet professionals to offer clinics, consultations, workshops and specialist services from our private clinical room.

We have a clean, professional space with:

🩺 Examination table
⚖️ Pet weighing scales
🌡️ Temperature-controlled fridge
🧼 Hand-washing facilities
📺 Large screen & computer
🚗 Client parking
☕ Hot & cold drinks
🚪 Separate access to the clinic room
🪑 Flexible space that can be adapted depending on the service

We can accommodate one-to-one appointments, small clinics, professional sessions and occasional set days/weekends.

We can also take care of bookings and client administration for you if that’s how you’d prefer to work, allowing you to concentrate on providing your service.

We’d particularly love to hear from vets, trainers, behaviourists, groomers, nutritionists and other established pet professionals who may have a service they’d like to bring to local pet owners.

For the protection of both professionals and our clients, all professionals must hold appropriate, current qualifications and valid professional/public liability insurance relevant to the services they provide. Evidence of these will be required before any services are offered from the premises.

Unplanned days ❤️

Sometimes being in the right place at the right time is simply meant to happen.

Today I carried out an emergency out-of-hours scan on a lovely girl who was day 54 and had started to have some green discharge earlier today.

Mum was otherwise surprisingly well. She was eating, her temperature was around 37.5°C, and apart from being a little unsettled, she was acting completely normally other than some shaking episodes,

Something that really stood out to me on today's scan was that on her previous scans, we had very clearly seen three puppies. Today, I could only identify two.

I knew there were definitely three in there becauseu had scanned this girl twice previouslyand they couldn't of absorbed, so it was a little unusual — until we realised that puppy number three had likely moved into the birth canal, which explained why we couldn't visualise it properly on the abdominal ultrasound.

And then my day took an unexpected turn…

What started as an emergency scan ended with me helping deliver the puppies! In the shop 🐾❤️

Sadly, these little ones decided to make their entrance very early, at just 54 days, Delivery went well, I had everything needed to whelp at arms reach, One little puppy Sadly was stillborn, While two tiny premature puppies are now fighting their way through.

They are incredibly small and very premature but kept warm and have a strong suckle reflex, so the next few hours and days are going to be critical. Their lungs and other organs may not yet be fully developed, and despite everyone's best efforts, sadly there are no guarantees.

But for now, they are here, they are being cared for around the clock and they are being given every chance possible. ❤️

This is one of the things I love about what I do. Sometimes a scan is simply a scan… and sometimes, being there at exactly the right moment means you end up doing something completely unexpected.

Thinking of this little family tonight. 🐾❤️

Today I had the absolute pleasure of microchipping 7 beautiful Cockapoo puppies! 🐶❤️

It was so lovely to finally meet them face-to-face after scanning Mum throughout her pregnancy. She was carrying exactly the number of puppies we expected and went on to give birth right on her estimated due date — a total textbook experience! 👏🏼

Microchipping with me is nice and simple. I provide printed aftercare and follow-on instructions, making the whole process as stress-free as possible for breeders and new owners.

I also manage the registration of each puppy, including their:
🐾 Name or Collar Colour
🐾 Date of birth
🐾 Breed
🐾 Colour
🐾 Distinctive features
🐾 Microchip date
🐾Pedigree Name

And the best part… not one of these babies made so much as a squeak or even flinched! 🥰

They were either incredibly brave… or I’m just really good at what I do! 😉😂

Microchipping also comes with a FREE breeder account, making registration and keeping everything organised nice and easy.
