๐ณ Tick Awareness ๐ณ
As you go outside to enjoy the outdoors now itโs springtime, it is important to keep your furry friend up to date with their Flea and Tick treatment.
Adult ticks can be found on your pet at any time of year, however they are mostly active during the spring, living in long grass and dense vegetation.
Here are a few things to remember as we spend more time outdoors:
- Keep your dog up to date with itโs tick treatment. 25-30% of ticks in the UK carry Lymes disease.
- Check your pet regularly. Ticks have 4 life stages, initially they can be the size of a pin head!
- Use a Tick hook. This is the safest way to remove the parasite.
- Do not attempt to remove a tick with tweezers. This can result in leaving the head of the parasite within your animals skin, causing an infection.
- Once the tick has been safely removed, keep your eye on the area for any swelling.
We hope you have a wonderful start to the spring๐พ
