Trip and I stepped into the showing world for a couple of events.. very much out of Trip’s comfort zone!
He qualified for The Golden Retriever Club, Best of the Best Event and the class for dogs gaining a stud book number in 2025. As expected, we were no match for the beautiful show dogs! However everyone was very welcoming and most supportive. Best of all, I was delighted to be presented with a very special President’s award for the best full working dog.
Next stop was Crufts Field Trial class where we gained a 3rd prize. Well done to my friends Mary Palk and Andrew Ward-Smith coming 1st and 2nd.
All a fun and enjoyable experience but I think we’re best sticking to what we know..😂

First time mum Tonic (Haverholme Park Yew of Foxcote) is turning out to be the most gentle and attentive mum. Dad Remy (Foxcote Winter Solstice) is oblivious to it all..!

An incredible year and my very special dog Trip… (Wells Trip of Foxcote)
Not only has he won Novice and Open working tests this summer, he’s now won the Northern Golden Retriever Association’s Novice Breed Field Trial and Gun’s Choice at Hy-Fly in Lancashire. As always, it’s a tough ground but he didn’t let me down. Love him so much! ❤️❤️

As with training any dog, it’s never easy and there’s always challenges, ups and probably more downs so thank you to all my friends who have laughed and cried with me on the way! It’s so appreciated..

What a hugely disappointing day today. Four of these gorgeous Goldens including myself and Tonic were due to run in the invitation Novice test at Moy Gamefair near Inverness. Unfortunately by lunchtime the winds had increased with significant gusts, forcing the organisers to close the fair. Devasting for everyone, considering the huge amount of work that goes into the organisation and setting up of such a big event like this. As a result the novice retriever test this afternoon had to be cancelled moments before it was due to start.

And we were sure a Golden would have been one of the winners! 😂😂

What an amazing summer this fabulous trio have given me…
Midland Golden Retriever Working Tests at the weekend; Tonic was 3rd in Novice, Tikka won the Veteran class and Trip won the Open. It’s taken a lot of work to keep them all fully trained but all the ups and downs make it worthwhile for amazing days like this!

The Midland Club managed to reschedule this test from the excessive heat of 3 weeks ago. Lucy Jenkins and Lucy Mixture did an incredible job to pull it off - there was a great turnout. Thank you to everyone who made it such a nice day!

Running Trip, it was fantastic to be one of the 5 golden retrievers who qualified for and ran in the All Aged Retriever test at Scone game fair today!
Brilliant day, challenging tests on unforgiving ground and in a pretty hefty right to left wind!
Our dogs did us proud especially with Sarah Winter securing an excellent 3rd place.
Great event to be part of!

I can’t quite believe the summer we’re having…!
My favourite Golden event of the year is the Golden Retriever Interclub that brings together up to 13 regional Golden clubs to compete against each other in teams of 4; 2 novice dogs and 2 open dogs.

This year hosted by Yorkshire GRC and what a job they did! Super judges, great tests, fantastic location and a banquet of food for everyone. With all the teams together it created such a fun and competitive atmosphere!

I ran Tonic (Haverholme Park Yew of Foxcote) as novice dog for Midland GRC alongside my fab teammates Carolyn Gardner, Lucy Mixture and Vivien Warren with our team captain Lucy Jenkins. We had so much fun, lots of strategies, loved the challenges and Lucy’s cafe on the way round!

We were very pleased with our second place, but most thrilling for me was that Tonic won overall best Novice dog. I was over the moon with her! ❤️

Well done to GRC Scotland who were the winners this year 👏👏🥂🥂

Happy 14th birthday to Tammy! Rehomed to us aged 4 years where she’s had a wonderful busy life. She doesn’t hear or see so well nowadays but is as spritely as ever and manages a decent walk if she can!
