Love this graphic … you don’t really have a “sit” until they can do it anywhere!! Same for more useful behaviours - they need proofing and developing to be strong anywhere!

Most dogs are "Good Kitchen Dogs."

They'll Sit perfectly at home.

But ask for that same Sit when they're chasing a squirrel, greeting another dog, or exploring something interesting, and suddenly it's like they've never heard the cue before.

That's because dogs don't automatically generalize well. A dog that understands Sit in one situation doesn't necessarily understand that Sit means the same thing everywhere else.

The goal isn't to teach Sit once.

The goal is to teach Sit in lots of different situations until it becomes reliable anywhere.

That's what this progression is designed to do.

Today is World Bee Day 🐝
