💙🐺MEET HUSKY-LOOKING FOR HIS FOREVER HOME🐺💙

Meet Husky, our gentle giant with a heart as soft as freshly fallen snow. This handsome boy is calm, loving, and full of quiet charm. He has a way of slowly but surely melting your heart, just like winter sunshine on a frosty morning, and once he’s there, he stays forever. At 6 years old, this snow-hearted sweetheart is more than ready to find his forever den and a family to keep him warm through every season❄️

Husky is wonderfully well behaved in the kennels and is an absolute pleasure to care for. He is always calm, clean, patient, and happy to quietly go with the flow. Nothing about him is demanding. He is simply content to be near those he loves, enjoying life at his own gentle pace. Like the best Huskies, he has a peaceful presence that makes you feel instantly comfortable and at ease🤍

He absolutely adores his greyhound friends and gains a lot of confidence from them. Because of this, we feel he would thrive living with another calm greyhound or two who could help guide him through home life. He is incredibly social with the other hounds and has happily shared his kennel with female companions, always behaving like the perfect gentleman. That said, once he has built a close bond with his humans, we believe he could also be very happy as the only hound in the home, soaking up all the love and attention for himself🐕

Husky could happily live with calm, respectful, dog-savvy older children or teenagers who understand his sensitive nature. Equally, he would love a quieter adult-only home where life is peaceful, cosy, and full of comfort. Give this boy a soft bed, gentle company, and a few wintery cuddles, and he will be one very happy boy🐾

During his dog test, Husky found Blossom a little confusing at first and became overwhelmed by the situation. However, with reassurance, patience, and guidance, he settled much better and showed us just how responsive and willing to learn he truly is. Since then, he has already made lovely progress during socialisation sessions, and we truly believe his confidence around other breeds will continue to grow beautifully with positive experiences, support, and encouragement🤩

Husky is such a special boy with the kindest soul and the gentlest heart. Whoever gives this gorgeous giant the chance he deserves will quickly realise that life feels softer, calmer, and full of love once he becomes part of the family. His loyalty runs deep, his love is endless, and his quiet Husky magic has a way of warming even the coldest days. We know there is a very lucky family out there waiting for this beautiful boy, and when they find him, it will feel like coming home💙🐺

If you think your home could be the perfect den for Husky to call his own, get in touch! You can register your interest by calling us any day between 10am and 4pm on 01621 788315 or email us any time at [email protected] 📧💙

🐷🐾MEET PIGGY-LOOKING FOR HER FOREVER HOME🐾🐷

Piggy is the sweetest little love bug, with a heart absolutely bursting with affection, cuddles, and gentle Piglet charm. She is calm, kind, and wonderfully easy-going, taking everything in her stride with that soft and comforting Piggy glow that makes everyone fall head over trotters for her. At just 5 years old, this little piglet is ready to trot her way straight into the hearts of her forever family🩷

Piggy has settled beautifully into kennel life and has quickly become a favourite with staff, volunteers, and everyone lucky enough to meet her. She absolutely adores humans and is famous for her signature Piggy lean, pressing herself into you for cuddles as though she has known you forever. She is the sort of girl who will happily snuffle her way into your heart and make herself at home there🥰

During her dog test, Piggy was an absolute star, walking beautifully alongside Blossom with calm confidence and even earning the very special Blossom sniff of approval. She took everything in her stride and showed us exactly what a sweet and sensible little piglet she is🐕

Piggy is wonderfully social with other greyhounds and is currently sharing her kennel happily with Prince, helping to ground and comfort him with her loving nature. Because she enjoys the company of her hound friends so much, Piggy would happily live with another greyhound. Equally, she would thrive as the only dog in the home, hogging all the love, cuddles, and attention for herself🏡

Piggy could happily live with dog-savvy children, or she would adore a calm adult-only home filled with cosy cuddles, peaceful snoozes, and plenty of affection. Give this girl a comfy sofa and a loving human, and she will be as happy as a pig in mud🐾

Piggy truly is one of those once-in-a-lifetime girls who leaves little pawprints and Piglet kisses all over your heart. Whoever adopts her will quickly realise that life feels softer, sweeter, and far more magical with a little Piggy love in it💖

If you think your home could be the perfect little pigpen for Piggy to call her own, get in touch! You can register your interest by calling us any day between 10am and 4pm on 01621 788315 or email us any time at [email protected] 📧💙

Today is National Greyhound Day, and we’re celebrating some of the incredible greyhounds in our care who are still waiting for their forever homes🐾

Every greyhound featured in this video is hoping that one day soon, the right person will see them and realise they’ve found their perfect companion❤️

Greyhounds truly make greyt pets. They are famously gentle, affectionate, and incredibly loving dogs. They are often referred to as “45mph couch potatoes” because they are just as happy snoozing beside you on the sofa as they are stretching their legs on a walk. They are loyal, sensitive souls who form wonderful bonds with their families and bring so much joy to the people lucky enough to call them their own🥰

Many of the greyhounds currently looking for homes are black, and sadly black dogs are often overlooked in most rehoming kennels. We would love for National Greyhound Day to be an opportunity to celebrate these beautiful dogs and remind people that colour should never determine a dog’s chance of finding a loving home. Our black hounds are just as gentle, playful, affectionate, and deserving as any other dog, and they have so much love waiting to give🖤

Today, we hope that someone sees one of these amazing dogs and recognises their future best friend. A forever sofa, a loving family, and a place to call home is all they’re asking for🏡

If you’d like to learn more about any of the hounds featured in this post, head over to our website (🔗 https://www.clarksfarmgreyhounds.org.uk/dogs-for-rehoming/) for full profiles, photos, and details about what they’re looking for in their forever homes🏡

If you think you have the perfect home for any of our Greyhounds, please register your interest by calling us any day between 10am-4pm on 01621 788315 or email us any time at [email protected] 📧💙

Or, apply to adopt them directly by filling out our adoption form here: 🔗 https://form.jotform.com/250073671192050 📝

‼️HEATSTROKE IN GREYHOUNDS – PLEASE READ‼️

With the weather heating up, we need to talk about something serious… heatstroke which is a fast, silent killer that can affect any dog, but greyhounds are especially at risk.

Greyhounds are particularly vulnerable to heatstroke. Their low body fat, thin skin, and unique build mean they can overheat quickly and cool down more slowly than many other breeds.

When is it too hot to walk?

☀️Once temperatures start reaching 20°C and above, extra caution should be taken with greyhounds as they can overheat very quickly.
☀️Once it hits 25°C, it’s dangerous for all breeds not just greyhounds
☀️Over 30°C becomes a risk to both dogs and humans

Use this rule:
👉 If you can’t hold your hand on the pavement for 5 seconds, it’s too hot for your dog’s paws!!

🚨Heatstroke kills in minutes. Know the signs:
• Heavy panting or rapid breathing
• Excessive drooling
• Bright red or pale gums
• Vomiting or diarrhoea
• Weakness, collapse, or seizures
• Glazed eyes or unresponsiveness

Heatstroke can develop within minutes and requires emergency action.

Heat exhaustion vs heatstroke: What’s the difference❓
• Heat exhaustion: Early stage. Dog may be tired, panting heavily, or showing signs of discomfort.
• Heatstroke: Serious and life-threatening. The dog’s internal body temperature is dangerously high and organs may begin to shut down. Immediate vet care is essential.

❌ What NOT to do if your dog has heatstroke:
• Don’t walk during the hottest parts of the day
•Don’t over exercise in in warm weather
• Don’t cover your dog entirely with wet towels as it can trap heat
• Don’t leave them alone you must stay with them and contact your vet urgently

✅ What you SHOULD do:
• Move them into a cool, shaded space or indoors
• Use cold water to wet your dog
• Place a wet cool coat on your dog
• Use a fan to increase airflow
• Cool first, transport second
•Stay with your dog
• Call your vet immediately as this is a medical emergency

‼️Preventing heatstroke:
• Walk early morning or late evening when it’s coolest
• Limit time outdoors especially in gardens. Even sunbathing or playing in the heat can cause heatstroke
• Use cool coats especially useful if you live in a flat and must take your dog out to toilet
• Cool coats can also be worn indoors to bring body temp down
• Provide constant access to fresh water
• Use a fan pointed at their bed
• Try cool mats some hounds love them, some need encouragement
• Keep your greyhound inside and cool during heatwaves

Please remember:
No dog has ever died from skipping a walk, but many have died from going on one.

Greyhounds don’t need loads of exercise. What they do need is for us to protect them from the dangers of heat.

Please share to help others stay informed this summer☀️⛱️

⚠️IMPORTANT MESSAGE⚠️

Due to the extreme heat, we have made the decision to cancel all appointments tomorrow, Tuesday 26th.

This includes:
🐾Grooming appointments
🐾Meet the Breed sessions
🐾Viewings
🐾Adoptions

The temperatures are simply too unsafe for both humans and hounds. As always, the welfare and safety of our dogs comes first.

Holiday dog pick ups and drop offs will continue as normal, and we will be making sure all dogs remain as cool and comfortable as possible☀️💛

We hope everyone is staying safe during this heatwave. Please remember to stay hydrated, avoid walking dogs during the hottest parts of the day, and keep both yourselves and your hounds cool.

Thank you for your understanding and continued support💙
