Updating as you lovely people are still sharing but I’m so happy to say we found a home for Poppet
This breaks my heart to write this-
It is with great sadness that Poppet’s story is being shared.
I have looked after Poppet for a long period last year, and because she struggles being around other dogs, when she needed care again recently I stepped in to care for her in her own home where she felt safest and most settled. Her owner was completely devoted to Poppet and always wanted her to remain in the comfort of her own home.
When I arrived at the home on Thursday morning, Poppet and I went through a very traumatic situation, and very sadly her owner passed away. Since then, she naturally has found a lot of comfort in staying close to me.
Poppet is now being cared for while the right long term home is found for her. Her family have placed their trust in me, as I know Poppet best, to help find her the perfect home.
Because of her nature, she would be best suited to an adult only home where she can be the only dog and continue living as a much loved companion inside the home.
Poppet has spent most of her life as a house dog and has not always had regular walks, but she does enjoy them when given the opportunity. She is affectionate, loyal and thrives on human company.
Poppet has been through an awful lot over the past year, and especially recently, so she will need a home that can offer patience, routine, reassurance and plenty of love and affection.
Poppet does have a heart murmur. At present medication is optional, but it is likely she will require medication as she gets older.
She is believed to be around 9 years old, and this will be confirmed as part of the rehoming process.
Finding the right home for Poppet is incredibly important to me. After everything she has been through, I want to make sure she is safe, understood and truly loved. Any potential home will be carefully considered, and I would ask for ongoing updates so I know she is continuing to settle and feel secure.
