When you get into the trade of grooming they don’t tell you how hard it will be. They don’t tell you how many matted flea infested dogs you will shave down. How the bath you give some dogs will be the only one they get all year. How you will watch that puppy that came in for their first groom begin to struggle to stand and you know in your heart that their time is near. They don’t tell you what to say when parents call to tell you your favorite buddy has passed. They don’t tell you how to explain to parents that you found a new mass on their pup. They don’t tell you that these dogs will become a part of your life, your best friends even. That you will watch them grow. They don’t tell you how rewarding it is to transform dogs into the happiest version of themselves. They don’t tell you how much you will spend on equipment. How many times you will be bit, scratched and pooped on. This job is exhausting. This job takes an amount of love and patience that some can’t even fathom. I wouldn’t trade it for the world. We show up everyday, smiles on our face and shears in hand, because there are plenty of things we don’t deserve in this world, the greatest of all being Dogs.
