Megan
Spaniel X Shih Tzu
Female
6 years old
Arrived 17th July
RSPCA rehoming centre Chesterfield

Megan's owner contacted us for help as he was really struggling to provide for Megan and her needs and had some personal difficulties without anyone to help him. He wanted to ensure she got the care needed and to find a good loving home through the RSPCA.

Megan is already neutered and Microchipped. She's received much needed veterinary treatment for very inflamed ears and skin, and a poor coat. She's over the worst but will need ongoing management.

Megan says:
I love fuss and attention
I enjoy going for walks
I especially like cuddles!

It's hard to believe these two adorable sisters were dumped at a very young age.
Molly and Dolly are approximately 12 weeks old and are ready to re start their lives together . As sisters they are very close and will often be found disagreeing with each other on who's turn it is to wash who (Cue video!) They really like to look after each other and they do it very well! Dolly is the Explorer always finding a new place to discover but she is also the more sensible of the two sisters, she will happily curl up on you after a day exploring.Whereas Molly is searching for the next piece of mischief or mayhem she can create. She has a really cheeky nature but will make you laugh everyday. Molly purs like a steam train & will be very vocal if she wants your attention and likes to give you a wash while you stroke her. They are both adorable in equal measure and offer different qualities & characteristics. They need a home where they are able to go out once neutered. A cat free home is best without very young children.

They have been vaccinated, wormed, flead and Microchipped. We will cover the cost of neutering when 4-5 months old and this is mandatory. Molly and Dolly were dumped in an allotment. But they've put their past behind them! Please note that they may be wary of you initially but that won't last long!

We all enjoy the sunshine and warm weather. And so can your bunnies, but always make sure that they are cool and comfortable. Act fast if you notice they are not coping so well with the heat.
Prevention is better than cure, so here are a few tips to help keep your rabbits cool:
🐰 Provide extra water and change it regularly throughout the day.
🐰 Keep outdoor enclosures out of direct sunlight and provide plenty of shaded areas.
🐰 For indoor rabbits, keep the house/room as cool as possible allowing airflow. A fan is a great idea as long as your rabbits can move away from it freely.
🐰 Provide frozen water bottles or rabbit-safe ice pads. Some rabbits like to lie next to them to cool down.
🐰 Use a cool damp cloth to wipe their ears but do not submerge them into water.
If you are concerned about your rabbits, do not hesitate to take them to the vets. 🐇

Dogs never died from missing a walk ⚠️

If the pavement is too hot for your hand for five seconds, it's definitely too hot for paws. During a spell of hot weather, stick to walks at dusk and dawn to avoid burnt paw pads and heat-related illnesses, and if in doubt, don't go out.

Make sure you're clued up on the risk factors and symptoms of heatstroke, and the steps to take if your dog is overheating: https://bit.ly/3ZyghAU

Please share this vital reminder to help protect our canine companions in hot weather 🔁

Borrowed from a rescue dog owner 🥹

🐾 “Why do you love working with rescue dogs – especially the ones with behaviour issues?”
I get asked this a lot. And the answer is simple: dogs like my boy, Albert. 💛

When Albert first came into the rescue I was volunteering for, he was at a different kennels – one that had already written him off. He was labelled aggressive, dangerous, and not worth the time or money. But when I watched videos of him, I didn’t see a dangerous dog. I saw a scared, anxious soul who wasn’t being listened to.

When that kennels wanted him gone, I wanted to give him a chance.

Fast forward 3 years and now, on our walks, people stop me to compliment Albert. They tell me what a good boy he is. Some even jokingly ask their dogs why they’re not as well behaved as that dog. The truth? Albert is a good boy – he just needed time, patience, understanding, and someone who believed in him.

He still has his quirks – and that’s okay. I know what he needs to feel safe, and that’s what matters.

Not every rescue dog comes with behaviour challenges, but for the ones who do – they are so worth the effort. Watching a dog who’s had a tough start begin to trust, feel safe, and thrive is the most rewarding thing in the world.

That’s why I specialise in working with rescue dogs.
That’s why I’m passionate about helping their incredible families understand them.

Because every dog deserves a chance. 🐶❤️

Meet Sweetie, a delightful Lurcher looking for her forever home! Sweetie is the epitome of kindness – she's gentle, affectionate, and loves nothing more than curling up for cuddles. She’s playful and full of energy, enjoying every moment spent running and exploring with her furry friends. Sweetie has a heart of gold and gets along with all dogs, making her an ideal companion for a household with others.

Sweetie absolutely adores people of all ages, showering everyone she meets with love and affection. She’s never shown any aggression and has a calm, loving nature that makes her the perfect family addition. If you're looking for a sweet, playful, and loving companion, Sweetie might just be the perfect fit for you! Did we say she loves playing ball!

STORY

The National society appealed to branches for foster homes for twelve 9 month old case Luchers. To prevent long term kennel stay as prosecutions can take a very long time.

Breeder was allowing many dogs to live in filthy conditions. Most living outside, the pups had already spent several months in kennels after arrival with the RSPCA and hadn't lived indoors in the original home. The case is ongoing (so we cannot divulge any information) but the dogs have been authorised by the courts for rehoming after a year and a half!

Sweetie isn't fully house trained (almost there!), she currently doesn't have access to a garden so we feel a house with a secure garden will help greatly! Sweetie finished her second season March 2025, she was adopted and was meant to be neutered (we cover the cost) but unfortunately it didn't happen as they returned Sweetie, through no fault of hers. Now, July, she is experiencing a phantom pregnancy so can't be neutered yet. She can live with another dog. A cat free home is best.

If you’d be interested in giving a home to Sweetie please contact our Rehoming Co-ordinator for an application form on: [email protected]

Princess
Female
DSH
6 years 11 months old DOB 03/08/2018
Arrived 24th June
Private boarding, Rode Heath

Princess' current situation: After 10 months of adoption sadly Princess has been returned. Unfortunately she and the children just did not get on and despite trying to make it work, Princess and the children were very distressed and unhappy. We are looking for an adult only home with no other pets. Tragically Princess' behaviour is very different to how she used to be, she is very scared, very distrusting and just very unhappy at the moment. However, we are hoping that her carers at the cattery will work their magic and help bring her back to her old self. So please please...give her a chance! She just wants a peaceful, calm existence, with someone experienced, a home where she can enjoy the outdoors as and when she pleases as she'd just love that!

History prior to adoption: Originally arrived 26th January 2024 and in a foster home. Princess was left behind in a property after her owners were evicted. There was another cat who was caught sooner who went to another branch, but a pet free home is best. A common scenario but not one we can ever harden up to. Princess has settled in well and is doing fine, she was a little timid at first and took a few days to come out of hiding but then she was feeling more confident. She’s a friendly girl who loves a fuss. Happy to be picked up and will sit close by your lap. It's early days but we feel she'll blossom more! She was already neutered and chipped. She had a dental which resulted in an extraction. She's had her health check and been vaccinated.

If you’d be interested in sharing your home with Princess, please email [email protected] for an application form.
