We had the absolute pleasure of looking after two wonderful ferrets, Ginger and Bitter 🐾 They were having trouble eating which required them to have some dental treatment.

From the moment they arrived, they filled the practice with energy, curiosity, and so much personality. Whether they were zooming around the kennel, diving into the blanket, or playfully bouncing about doing their little dances, they kept us smiling the entire time.

🦷 Ferret Dental Care (Super Important!)
Just like cats and dogs, ferrets need proper dental care to stay healthy. Dental disease is actually quite common in ferrets if their teeth aren’t looked after.

Here’s how to keep those tiny teeth in top shape:

• Brush regularly – Aim for a few times a week using a pet-safe toothbrush and toothpaste (never human toothpaste).
• Provide proper diet – High-quality ferret food helps reduce plaque buildup. Avoid sugary treats—they can harm teeth.
• Chewing helps – Safe chew toys can assist in keeping teeth clean and strong.
• Watch for warning signs – Bad breath, drooling, or difficulty eating can signal dental issues.
• Vet check-ups – Regular visits help catch problems early before they become serious.

✨ Fun Ferret Facts✨
🟡 Ferrets sleep A LOT-between 15-20 hours a day! But when they’re awake, they’re full-speed zoom mode.
🟠A group of ferrets is called a “business.”
🔵They do a happy dance called the “war dance,” complete with hops, twists, and playful chaos.
🟢Ferrets have poor eyesight but an excellent sense of smell and hearing.
🔴They love tunnels, boxes, and anything they can sneak into.
🟣Ferrets have 34 permanent teeth.

They truly brightened our days, and it was such a privilege to care for them. Little animals with such big personalities 💛

Gorgeous Roxy visited us this week for her spay surgery and she was an absolute superstar! 🌟

Spaying (ovariohysterectomy) is an important procedure for female dogs and brings several lifelong health and wellbeing benefits. It prevents unwanted pregnancies and helps reduce the risk of serious conditions such as womb infections (pyometra) and mammary tumours later in life. For many dogs, it can also help avoid hormone-related mood and behavioural changes.

Roxy was brave throughout her stay, enjoyed plenty of cuddles from the team, and is now resting comfortably at home with strict instructions for quiet time and lots of love while she heals. 🩷

Well done, Roxy - we loved looking after you!🩷✨
