We had the absolute pleasure of looking after two wonderful ferrets, Ginger and Bitter 🐾 They were having trouble eating which required them to have some dental treatment.
From the moment they arrived, they filled the practice with energy, curiosity, and so much personality. Whether they were zooming around the kennel, diving into the blanket, or playfully bouncing about doing their little dances, they kept us smiling the entire time.
🦷 Ferret Dental Care (Super Important!)
Just like cats and dogs, ferrets need proper dental care to stay healthy. Dental disease is actually quite common in ferrets if their teeth aren’t looked after.
Here’s how to keep those tiny teeth in top shape:
• Brush regularly – Aim for a few times a week using a pet-safe toothbrush and toothpaste (never human toothpaste).
• Provide proper diet – High-quality ferret food helps reduce plaque buildup. Avoid sugary treats—they can harm teeth.
• Chewing helps – Safe chew toys can assist in keeping teeth clean and strong.
• Watch for warning signs – Bad breath, drooling, or difficulty eating can signal dental issues.
• Vet check-ups – Regular visits help catch problems early before they become serious.
