“My dog did puppy class… so why aren’t they trained?” 👇🏻

It’s something trainers hear all the time.

You can’t do a 6-week puppy course and expect your dog to be trained for life.

Good puppy classes are a fantastic starting point for creating a well-rounded dog. They introduce important foundations like social skills, engagement, and basic behaviours. But that’s exactly what they are — a start.

Dogs go through many developmental stages as they grow. Just like us, they change as they mature, gain confidence, experience new environments, and face new challenges. What works at 4 months old might need reinforcing, adapting, or revisiting at 10 months, 2 years, or even later.

Think of it like education. You wouldn’t send a child to school for one hour a week and expect them to pass their GCSEs at 16. It sounds ridiculous — because learning doesn’t work like that.

Dog training is no different.

Training isn’t a one-off course. It’s an ongoing process that evolves as your dog grows and as life changes around them. The more consistently you work with your dog, the stronger your communication, understanding, and partnership become.

The goal isn’t a “finished” dog.
The goal is building a relationship and skills that last a lifetime. 🐾

Delta, Jäger and Hudson got the chance to hop up on the Crufts couch with and — and it’s safe to say they made themselves very comfortable!

Moments like this always make me stop and think about the journey. I can now proudly say I’ve had five bums on that famous sofa over the years…
Archie in 2019, Bryn in 2023, and this year Delta, Jäger (and me!) in 2026.

Each dog, each year, and each moment has meant something special. Feeling incredibly proud and very grateful to have been part of it again. 💚
